Not a good experience

The toilet was clogged. No light on the night table. They lost my pajamas. Very aggravating experience.

Weekend in NYC

I was disappointed with what I got considering the price I paid. While not too expensive there are certain things that most places will offer for free that the Empire did not. My main issue was the wifi access. You have to pay extra to be able to access the internet which is one thing that put me off. I had stayed at another hotel just a few weeks before, about the same price offered free wifi and I had come to believe that this was the standard for most hotels. My main issue was that I had to resort to searching on my phone instead of my laptop for nearby places. Another thing that kind of surprised me was the size of the room. There was hardly any space to move around. I guess that one is on me for not knowing my dimensions, but still it was tiny. The bathroom was also very small and the shower was missing half of the sliding door. Above all things that irked me was that they threw out my unopened beers while I was out for the day. Never touch a man's beer without asking. Aside from the small space, comfort level was pretty good. If you are looking for a place to crash this might work for you, just don't try to fit more than two people without one of their suites. They have a bar lounge on the rooftop which is open only to hotel guests and is a nice way to either start or end the night.

I stayed one day, did not use the amenities really except a good (and costly) room service meal. I was in a ?superior? room (an upgrade) and I found it comfortable and quite large (by NY standards). Not blown away by the hotel but comfortable enough that I would return. Very close to major subways & amenities which is a big plus.

family trip

All is good, except beware of the fan noise on the inside rooms. Management was helpful in getting us a street side room, as the fan noise even on the 9th floor was too loud.

Luxurious and yet friendly

This is our second stay at the Empire and it was as lovely as the first. Initially we were allocated a room on the second floor which proved to be very noisey as we had air conditioning units outside, but as soon as we requested another room it was done - and we were no longer disturbed. The staff and concierge were all very helpful when booking tables, needing info etc. My only gripe would be that although the bar is suppossedly open until midnight, we were turned away twice at 11.15pm and told the bar was closed which was disappointing. Other than that, the hotel more than lived up to expectation.

Try Sarah Beth's for brunch (but book!), the Central Park boathouse for a special lunch or the Carnegie Deli for something quite spectacular!

Things to be improved

The bathroom shower room was missing sliding door, so water was out everywhere in the bathroom during the shower. Additionally, I didn't see the coffee maker or the water boiler, the only water I could drink was the tap water, unfortunately.

marathon weekend

When I arrived at the hotel, a gentleman at the front desk told me I canceled the reservation (not true). After 20 min. another room was given to me. I was told it was an upgrade (they did not mention it was on the smoking floor/smoking room). The hotel was extremely hot-many guests agreed. Could not regulate the cool air. Guests had their windows open. The location was wonderful. Not sure I would stay there again.

Beautiful in NYC

Everyone was very nice, it had good energy. The room was a good size and I loved the Mezzanine level restaurant that was super bright in contrast to the pleasantly hip and busy lobby. I was disappointed that when they asked if this was my first time in the hotel I got a 2nd floor room w/ no view (you're right by Central Park and Lincoln Center) & as a single woman, near an elevator, but maybe they just weren't thinking about the EXTRA mile. All in all - awesome but could've hit a higher mark.
