- Area description
- The 231 room Skyline Hotel is located in a neighborhood known as Clinton and historically as Hells Kitchen. "West Side Story" was filmed only a few blocks down the street. This once "notorious" neighborhood has changed dramatically within the last few years. Tree lined streets; flower gardens and window boxes are seen in this once infamous rough area of docks, ship and immigrants.

European Style on 10th Avenue
Don't judge a book by its cover! From the street this hotel doesn't seem like much, and its surroundings are a bit dingy. But once inside you'll see that the staff is professional, welcoming and efficient, and that the lobby is comfortable and clean. As you go to your room the decor may remind you of small hotels in the UK and Europe. The rooms seem to have been recently redone, with new furniture and stylish bedding. The bath looked brand new, with tiles reminiscent of Old World Style.

Convenient and good value
The location was great for me. The room was very large. Service was nice but not able to go beyond the ordinary. So I solved as best I could a problem with the heat and water faucet as my first try to get help with a different issue fell flat.

Average price and quality. Pricey for what it is.
Stayed two nights. The hotel is a glorified motel. A fine room (by New York standards), clean. Paid 300 a night which this hotel isn't quite worth. Very very much in need of an update. The location is OK, intersection of 10th ave and 50th street. A bit of a walk to Times Square if that's what you're after. All in all, a solid 3 out of 5 stars, but no more.

All Work, No play
My experience at Skyline Hotel was really very surprising! Very nice atmosphere, calming, quiet and close enough to walk to Times Square comfortably and still far enough away from the crowds and traffic. Plenty of deli's, convienent store close and best of all for me was the use of a mini fridge in my room for drinks, snacks ect. The pool and workout room were basic but nice. My ONLY complaint is that I (the guests) are charged to be able to access the interenet.

Walk to Times Square! AND from this Hotel, cabs are easier to find than a few blocks up closer to Times Square.

Price ok, location fine, AC not good
50th and 10th is a little out of the way, but fine when you are looking for a deal on a hotel room. The price wasn't bad, especially during Fashion Week. The appearance is dated, but everything seemed clean and well maintained. The room had sufficient space, especially compared to other Midtown NY hotels. The staff is friendly and working to make the guests happy. The air conditioning is throughly inadequate. Over the better part of a day with it set on the coldest setting with the highest fan speed, the room AC unit could not cool the room or even lower the humidity.

Skyline review
Checking in was not easy as the front desk did not have my reservation even though I produced my confirmation ticket and number. The individual who was assisting me became irate and very disrespectful. The bell hop joined in with is there a problem clearly directed towards me. They did give me a larger room but it was unnecassary as I was alone and going to bed leaving hours later. The hotel is under renovations but there was no noise in the morning. The room was nice and clean. The bed was comfortable.

Good hotel for the price
I was quickly greeted by friendly staff, the room was a good size, bathroom was bigger than other bathrooms in ny, tv was nice size, nice size closet (especially for NY), and the bed was comfy. The wallpaper wasn't perfect, seemed to be coming away from the wall in spots, parts looked dated, but was clean and comfortable to sleep in.

great location
within a few blocks of Times Square and Broadway. The fact that the onsite reataurant wasn't great didn't matter since there were so many nearby choices. There's a parking garage on the site with no in-and-out, but only $10/day can't be beat.
