Area description
The 231 room Skyline Hotel is located in a neighborhood known as Clinton and historically as Hells Kitchen. "West Side Story" was filmed only a few blocks down the street. This once "notorious" neighborhood has changed dramatically within the last few years. Tree lined streets; flower gardens and window boxes are seen in this once infamous rough area of docks, ship and immigrants.

Good location

Overall really good hotel. Location was perfect, only 10 mins walk from Times Square. Hotel was really clean and staff really friendly and helpful. It could do with a bit of a makeover. The wallpaper was peeling off in places and a slight bit of mould around the window. Nothing worth complaining about as we only slept and showered there as there is far too much to do in NYC. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would like to return

The Big Apple

The hotel was very nice & clean. Maybe I expect too much by not having traveled to New York frequently, but the room had no coffee maker nor did the hotel. Yoiu had to go across the street to a deli for morning coffee. I can't think of a single place I've ever stayed that didn't have coffee readily available! Most places have a few refreshments in the lobby free of charge!

Great holiday

The hotel was small, decor was poor, carpets didn't fit! Other than that it was ok. Hotels location wasn't too bad, situated on 10th Ave in between 49th & 50th st which lead to all the places you need to visit whilst in New York.

All Work, No play

My experience at Skyline Hotel was really very surprising! Very nice atmosphere, calming, quiet and close enough to walk to Times Square comfortably and still far enough away from the crowds and traffic. Plenty of deli's, convienent store close and best of all for me was the use of a mini fridge in my room for drinks, snacks ect. The pool and workout room were basic but nice. My ONLY complaint is that I (the guests) are charged to be able to access the interenet.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Walk to Times Square! AND from this Hotel, cabs are easier to find than a few blocks up closer to Times Square.

Special Break

We only used this hotel as a base to sleep, however we did use the restaurant which was very nice and the staff were very helpful. Communicating with the hotel before hand was a bit of a nightmare but I think that was because we arrived a week after Sandy. If you need Tea or Coffee you need to go to the restaurant, which is on the ground floor. It would have been better to have a vending machine on each floor. We were in the front of the hotel which was nice but a little noisy at night, there were metal covers in the road.

At lot of attractions were a medium walk away. Rockafella Centre is straight down 49th street. Time Square is not far either.

Perfect For Friends & Couples

The hotel's location was good, we managed to walk to Time Square, Century 21, Bloomingdale's, & Macy's(comfortable shoes a must!). The hotel bedrooms could of done with a Tea Maker, however they do have a lovely Deli across the road. PJ Bricks the restaurant attached to the hotel was conveniently placed, lovely staff, very polite, not a bad choice of food, overall good stuff. I would like to praise the hotel for their two members of staff on the Concierge Desk, extremely helpful,(however you should consider two on the desk in the mornings as it's very busy.) My only 2 moans about the hotel were the Front Desk/Reception staff not very knowledgeable,(asked what time the banks closed, replied "not sure ask the concierge"!!) never greeted you on leaving or entering the building, generally not what you would expect for front line staff. And the Swimming Pool very disappointing.
