A nice place to base NYC travel
I booked this room for $99 and it was a great deal. the room was larger than I expected and a comfortable base in NYC. Ultimately this is a room to sleep in, though. I wouldn't want to spend a lot of time "relaxing" there, but that wasn't the point. I wish when I booked the room that there had been a way to request a non-smoking room.

the beds were awful
The bed frame was so unstable it rocked every time one of us moved. We didn't care for the sleep number bed as it made the bed very uneven. I requested a non smoking room but the room smelled horribly of smoke.

Good for quick overnight in the city
I only stayed one night but it was very comfortable. I got a petite room which was hilarious due to the size of the bathroom in comparison to the bedroom. The bedroom was tiny; we joked that it was a less than full-sized bed but it was enough room for us. The bathroom was huge for not having a tub, but I rather liked the odd shower. There was a fold down chair with a height-adjustable showerhead (no, I did not dare sit on a shower-chair) which was nice but it kept sliding back down. It reminded me of a Japanese shower, if I had ever seen one. Hot water was quick to come out and had good pressure. There was a nice big mirror in the room, a desk along one wall with a very large flatscreen TV. Unfortunately the hotel either didn't offer free tv channels or I couldn't figure out which option allowed me to watch basic tv. The only free options I saw were 4 minute previews. On demand viewing were $5. We only stayed one night (total time spent in room ~ 9hrs; only about 2 hours awake). Only discomfort was the super thin walls but the hotel nicely leaves one pair of ear plugs on the night stand. Although when two guests are booked, perhaps two pairs would be better. Our particular room had no view except for other buildings. It is a little out of the way to get to the hotel but not terrible. The main inconvenience is that there is only one subway line close to it. The day had to be planned pretty carefully because we could easily lose an hour just to drop by the hotel to pick up a jacket or drop off a shopping bag. Overall, I'm happy with the hotel although tourist season rates are pretty high. It is slightly out of the way, but good planning makes it bearable. Oh, and most important of all: No evidence of bed bugs.

Needs some maintenance
The staff was friendly and courteous. However, the maintenance of the room required some attention. The electrical outlet on the desk (part of the lamp). Did not work. I needed to request an extension cord to charge my computer. The drain pop-up in the bathroom did not work correctly and even after a maintenance engineer came to fix it, it still caused the drain to not drain properly. The wall paper in the bathroom was dirty and peeling in spots. The maid service left a lot to be desired. Did not always get clean cups and glasses and needed to request re-fill for the coffee for the in-room coffee maker (available on request).

Looks good on the outside..inside, hmm...
Overall okay hotel, stayed one night. Room was recently painted, so the odor was still there. Bathroom was small and wallpaper was slightly peeling off in areas. You can easily tell it was a sloppy paint job. Average staff. They charge you to hold your luggage ($2 per bag). Reasonable price though for one night.
