Worked great for us.
We had a nice room with no view, but that was ok. Cute little kitchen and plenty of room in the bathroom. Nothing special but the location was great for going anywhere in Manhatten. Price was right for NYC as well. We'll definately stay there again.

perfect location, an old apartment house converted to suites hotel.
The location can not be any more central. On 49 st between 6 and 7th av. Close to times square, radio city, all theaters, restaurants etc. The problems started once arrived. There are multiple steps going up to the entrance. Originally no bell boy was there to help carry suitcases, eventually one materialized. We were upgraded to a suite which was great. The rooms are clean but old. The heating system does not work, so in order to regulate the heat one needs to open the windows... Found out we did not have any hot water around 10 pm, called for help. The person arrived shortly and fixed the problem. All staff personnel were exceptionally helpful and very nice to deal with. Check in and out were fast and efficient. I asked for delayed check out and was granted another hour (12 pm). They have GREAT towls, better then most hotels which was a nice surprise. The biggest problem is the ancient elevator. It goes wherever it wants...if you want down, it may take you up first and vice versa. It takes a while to get it. The stay was comfortable and satisfactory for the height of the season when it is very hard to find hotel deals. Lastly, we forgot to pack an orthopedic pillow and called same evening. Were instructed to call in the morning. They are still looking for it. Someone must enjoy it, but it is not us.

Great location and value
The location was ideal for our needs; a stone's throw from Times Square. Pleasantly surprised when we were upgraded to room with a separate living room/kitchenette. Had all the amenities and pleasant staff. Will definitely return

Great value, great location, very nice staff!
It's over a hundred years old, but fabulous location, a block from Radio City and two blocks from Times Square. Our studio had all we needed and more. Definitely not fancy, but perfectly clean with a very nice staff. Far better value than a theatre district hotel I moved from. Comparatively quiet neighborhood with several good value restaurants on the block and several high end ones, too. Definitely a find for future trips. And close to three different subway lines!

Just A Night
The hotel is in a great location if you are interested in being a tourist. Right outside of Time Square and the Theater District. The hotel itself was not that bad. Room was ample but the bed felt like we were sleeping on the floor. Perhaps too many moneys were caught jumping on the bed? For the price, and location you can not go wrong!

Great Location and Decent Price
Enjoyed our night here. The room was clean, with 2 beds and a mini-kitchen. The location was great--close to Broadway and all the shows and near lots of restaurants. We walked to the Intrepid. Would definitely stay here again!

Good value but one drawback
If all you are going to do is sleep in your room then this hotel is good enough. There is a kitchen adequately equipped - but do you really want to go grocery shopping and wash dishes? The drawback is the wifi connection. If all you have is a tablet, and all you want to do is check email, it's fine. Anything more than that - web pages with flash or java - and it gets frustrating. And uploading your photos from here is going to be done while you do something else away from your laptop. But the location - steps to the subway, restaurants and theatres close by - a few blocks to Carnegie Hall - was just right for us and, I suspect, many visitors. Times Square and the Tkts half price booth is two blocks away.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
Three doors from the hotel steps is the Iroha Japanese restaurant that sells some of the best sushi in New York. It is also not expensive - dinner for 3 was $63 (before tax and tip, we drank green tea)

I Love New York!
I had never been to NYC before and was a little nervous at first when my boyfriend and I first arrived. Once we made it to the hotel, the staff was very friendly and helpful in allowing us to store our luggage there until our room was available. Later in the day, our room was available 30 minutes early and was very clean. It wasn't the most stylish looking, but having your own mini kitchen and bathroom was nice. The view wasn't the greatest and the shower/bathroom is super tiny, but everything else about it was wonderful. The best part was the location, right there in the middle of Times Square, it was awesome. My boyfriend and I want to plan another trip to NYC this summer and would love to stay here again.

Time-saving tip:
Not Applicable
Use the subway system, especially if you plan on doing a lot of sightseeing. If you plan on staying 2-7 days, I would recommend buying the unlimited 7 day pass ($29 as of February 2012). It's definitely worth it and is so much cheaper and faster than using cabs!

staff really exceptional
Clean and located right next to the theatre district, but what really surprised us was the helpfulness of the staff. They exceeded our expectations with their responses to every one of our requests. We will definitely stay there again, this place is a tremendous value.
