Location, location, location
You can't beat the location of OTA. Super, 24-hour market right across the street, plenty of bars and places to hang out as well as super shopping within walking distance. And the place sits right between Central and Riverside Parks. Despite all this, quiet enough for a great night's rest.

Very comfortable
A classy good value for money hotel. It was our first time in New York and did not know what to expect. After very busy days sightseeing we were grateful to return to a restful hotel. The rooms are very comfortable and spotless. Super location with grocery store, diner, subway, central park and Natural History Museum close by. Be careful of the highly priced snacks and drinks in the mini bar - mind you prices are clearly displayed! One of our best holidays can't recommend the city or the hotel enough.

nice bed...that's where it ends.
Hard to find of 77th. Very expensive parking. Neighborhood was sketchy and good thing there wasn't an emergency as the fire department was across the street. Good location if your looking for a quieter location to time square. We had no view whatsoever. Whoever used this as a plus didn't stay on the 5th floor. Really if the bed wasn't so nice this would have rated a 2 star in my book. [...] Very small cramped room no mini bar or even vending in the hotel.

On the Avenue Hotel
We normally enjoy staying at this hotel. This time the room was showing lots of wear, red spot on carpet, rip in the wallpaper and a replacement tv in front of another tv. The tv did not get NBC and we spoke with the desk and were told a technician would be up to our rooom soon or a manager would call us. Neither happened and we did not get to see the final Olympic Hockey game. The towels this trip were rough and not fluffy also.

Great location, Excellent property!
[...] This hotel does not own a roll-away bed thus putting me in an uncomfortable position. I had to pay an additional $50.00 for a room with two beds. I was not happy but had no other choice as I was arriving late in the evening.

Not a 4 Star hotel but offers a lot
We went to New York to welcome 2010 by going to a few shows. The location of the hotel was perfect. Easy access by foot or subway to any of the theaters, restaurants, and some great food markets. Our room was very small and our windows faced a wall but it was very clean. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were of high quality. We could have used more closet space to hang our clothes. This type of room would not work for a stay longer than a couple of days. The bathroom was nice and clean. When we arrived, we had to request the adequate number of towels needed for 2 people as well as an extra roll of toilet tissue. The bath towels were thick and very big which was very pleasant except that we had nowhere to hang them once wet. Another bad surprise was that the only ice machine in the hotel was broken. The hotel staff was very prompt in bringing us any missing items as well as ice. The bottom line is that this hotel needs to set-up their bathrooms so towels can be hang as well as making sure that the rooms are fully equipped with all the expected amenities. In spite of the few thinks that need t improvement, I will return for another stay to give the place another chance.
