bathroom

the bathroom was big and clean. the only thing wrong, there is there is no counter to put toiletries on. I think they should put a vanity around the sink to put stuff on.

wonderful

while not on the avenue (it's on 77th btw b'way & amsterdam), the staff is pleasant and helpful, my room was well designed and comfortable, a great location in the upper west side. Easy to hop a bus or train to travel anywhere in NYC. Walk to the American Museum of Natural History or NY Heritage Society.

Entertainment tip: Short walk from hotel

The museum district is a short walk across Central Park, taking only 15 minutes. There you can find among others MoMA and the Guggenheim. The museum of natural history is also just down the street from the hotel.

Dec 2011 NYC visit

Room and bathroom very small. Reserved a King bed and received a Double. Location was good. $10 cab ride to pretty much anywhere. Staff was good and several "okay" restaurants close by. I question price vs. value.

Meh.

There was nothing bad about On the Ave. The hotel was very clean, the staff very courteous. The downside with the amenities was there was no breakfast, only free coffee, and the wi-fi is uber bad. If you are in the lobby, the wi-fi is free and pretty decent. In our room on the 9th floor we couldn't stay connected to the lobby and to get wi-fi in your room it was $12/day or $50/week. I opted to pay for it one day just to try it out. It still was lousy. Your better off with your 3G connection or definitely 4G for all those with LTE. The room itself was pretty good, large HDtv with no HD programming, and the bed was king size, the mattress could have been a little more comfortable. The location of the hotel was decent. Close to the museums on the UWS and also to the 1 (terminal just on 79th) which pretty much goes everywhere on the west side. However, we were going between midtown and uptown a lot and we probably should have chosen a better location, like Central Park south. And they advertise that you can see Central Park from one of their balconies... but you really can't, its only two or three blocks away... but building block any view. Of course, Uptown its a lot less crowded and noisy. So that a plus.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

All the museums are close by, museum mile is right across the park from the hotel and a few blocks up. But remember to check what days they are closed before you plan to visit them.
