The New York Marriott Marquis was founded in 1980, and is run as part of the Marriott International Hotel chain. Designed by architect John Portman, the New York hotel boasts the city's only revolving rooftop lounge and restaurant. Every hour, guests can gaze out on a new district of the Big Apple as The View rotates while they dine, taking in sights like the Empire State Building; the Chrysler; the City Spire; and the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum. Spend early mornings with your favorite coffee fix inside the hotel's Starbucks, or pick up casual pre-theater snacks and drinks at the Broadway Lounge before watching a major New York City performance. An on-site beauty shop caters to pampering needs, while the fitness center allows health-focused guests to maintain regiments while on vacation.

Stiil a Great Weekend

Hotel is located in the heart of the theatre district. Easy walk to all theatres. Pedestrian traffic was very heavy. There was a lot of construction going on in Times square and the Hotel building which hindered the experience somewhat, Hotel had a great elevator call system.

Overpriced

There was no free internet access. $20/night? Room advertised as a "corner room" - but there was no corner, just a single window facing West. Good location but really not that great a hotel. Bathroom not that clean.

Good location; not great value

No better location for Times Square, but the Bathroom could be cleaner and they charge for internet connection.

TKTS booth right by hotel; go at 1:45 and even though lines will be long, you will probably get tickets at least on week-days.

Times Square getaway.

We stayed one night at this hotel. This hotel is not 5 star quality and the star ratings are misleading. The bell staff were extremely aggressive and were fighting over who was going to handle your bags just so that they could make the tip. This made for an uncomfortable experience. The location of the hotel was the best feature. Hotel lobby was extremely crowded at all times and the check in staff was not very friendly..

Best Value

I've stayed in the Double Tree, Hilton & Renaissance in Times Square and the Marriott Marquis was a little better than these other high quality hotels. My only complaint was there was no refrigerator or mini bar in the room after paying $400 a night on a weekday in November "off holiday".

Sightseeing tip: Not Applicable

Sometimes paying the extra money for Broadway tickets is worth it. We were planning on buying front mezzanine or orchestra seats for "Betrayal" starring Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz. We were planning on paying $149 per ticket. The only tickets available were premium tickets for $375 a ticket. We decided to splurge and bought the premium tickets and had an amazing time. Upgrading a level or two is worth the extra money sometimes.
