Friendly helpful staff, great location, cozy, clean rooms.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night. We attended a party a block and a half away. It was great not to have to worry about driving home after a long night. The location is perfect. A few blocks from 34th Street shopping and Penn Station. The hotel was a little difficult to find from street if you're driving. There's no signage, door mat or doorman in front. Plus there was a bus stop in front which deterred us from stopping. If you pass it, be prepared to take 15-20 mins to get back around because of the thru streets during rush hour. After making the third pass I decided to call to find out the exact location. If it weren't for the doorman hailing a cab we wouldn't have found it. We left our car for the valet and went to check in. The staff was great. They were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. They gave suggestions for places to order food and even printed up a menu for us. The room was nice. It was clean, comfy and had modern furnishings. The bathroom was small. There was no room to move around in. The toilet was directly behind the door. There was no vanity mirror with an outlet close to use a dryer or flatiron. There was a mirror in the bathroom that was a high. Another little in the desk that popped up but you'll have to slouch in the chair if you want to see yourself. There was a hidden full length mirror in the wall by the window seat but no outlet. Other than that the room was great. I would definitely stay here again if there was deal on the rate.

Service with a smile

Would recommend Sun, Sep 19, 2010
Great staff!!very friendly and helpful with recommendations and assistance. We got caught by a parade that closed the street as we were leaving and the bellman walked us 1 1/2 blocks with our luggage to catch a cab.

Dining

Moonstruck Cafe down the block had great breakfasts (we wanted more than the continental breakfast at the hotel) and lunches with fantastic salads.

Generally a really good experience and I would give it 5 but just once or twice the desk staff were a little less helpful than I would have liked.

Attractions

Plan activities in advance if you're going during busy times, it helps to avoid queues and disappointment. For some activities e.g. Federal Reserve Tour you must book 5 days in advance.

Morgans Hotel

Would recommend Thu, Sep 3, 2009
I spent a couple of nights here when I visited for a weekend in New York, where I've stayed at a number of hotels. I was certainly happy at Morgans. Its location is very convenient as I was arriving and departing through Penn Station. Sleek and stylish but also tucked away, so it's not over the top. Friendly staff who seem to truly enjoy their work rather than putting on airs. Not too much to complain about. It didn't bother me, but my room was rather dark. I guess I don't mind living in the shadows, but if you have a psychological need for sunshine and a great view, this might not be your thing. I also believe I was double-charged for the mini-bar bill, but I presume this was an innocent error and I didn't raise the issue as I didn't notice until later.

Nightlife hint

This isn't Manhattan's nightlife central, but I've found it's a convenient location if you're going to be spending time both downtown and uptown.

Great value for 2

Would recommend Tue, Aug 18, 2009
1st time in NYC, it was great. We'd heard to expect tiny rooms, but were surprised by the size of the space we got at Morgans: bigger than expected, certainly enough room for a couple. The hotel had a hip New Yorker design. Didn't spend tons of time in the room, but it was a super comfy oasis after long days of exploring the city. Staff was super helpful & nice. Rooms were pretty clean. Location of the hotel was decent, short walking distance to 2 subway stations (one being Grand Central). I'd definitely recommend, it was a good deal in NYC.

Time saver

Get the MetroCard & use the buses as well as the subway. Buses will save you tons of walking, & you get to see the city while you ride (as opposed to underground tunnel views). But regardless, BRING WALKING SHOES!!!

Fantastic Hotel!

Would recommend Wed, Jul 29, 2009
My wife and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary and stayed at the Morgans for 6 nights. It was very nice, beyond our expectations, and the staff could not have been any nicer or more helpful. The location is perfect. Easy walking to Times Square, Rockefeller Center, St. Patricks, and many upscale stores, restaurants and bars. We felt extremely safe walking around the area of the hotel, and all of Manhattan for that matter. The continental breakfast was great, an added bonus. This hotel is very quiet and the rooms were really nice. Everything has been upgraded from the linens to the furniture. The room was spotless and extremely clean. We absolutely would stay there again. I don't think you could do any better on the location. [...] and her staff do a first class job.
