Good for singles or close couples
Location is terrific - rooms are clean & staff is friendly. If you need a lot of space or natural sunlight look elsewhere, but for a basic clean room this is a good choice. Just be aware that spatially the rooms are beyond cozy. But how much time are you really going to be spending in the hotel anyway?

good location for time sq.
The room was small, but we only used it to sleep & clean up. The rate we got for two nights is what made it okay.

Great Location, Decent Hotel
If you are visiting NYC for sightseeing, there may be some *slightly* better locations, but the ones I saw were just a block or two away from the Mayfair. Though you will need to consider your party, if you fly solo its perfect. The room is a small, but you will hopefully be spending most of your time seeing the sites hanging out with your friends. Gives a great excuse to get out there. Some pretty mediocre wifi is available, but it got painfully slow at times. You are better off heading to one of the many nearby coffee shops. Definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a convenient stay just a short walk away from many of the things NYC has to offer.

Was perfect as a place to say for a night
I knew I only needed one night, and decided to let travel website choose for me. I was concerned because I had never heard of this hotel. The room was small, and it felt used and older, but it had been cleaned and I have been in far dirtier rooms in NYC. I am not sure of the value because the price for the night was part of a air/hotel package. The staff was friendly and helped me with getting a car to the airport and also made sure I was up and out of the room. They said if I wasn't in the lobby by the time the car was there that they would send someone up to knock on my door. This seems like a real mom and pop small NYC hotel. It is older but real convenient and perfect for a short stay.

convenient location
I don't know how much I paid for the hotel part of my trip but over all, $660 for two night stay in Manhattan and flight from Oakland CA to JFK, sounds like a good price to pay for me. If you don't need to spend a lot of time in your hotel and just need place to crash Mayfair is OK, otherwise rooms are very small and hotel is kind of old,

Stay away
The size of the room was about 11x14 INCLUDING THE BATHROOM and the elevator barely worked. The building itself was also cheap and not well kept either. I can't spend too much time writing about this place but DO NOT stay at this hotel... shame to New York.

Midtown Perfection
The staff are extremely sweet and make the experience as easy and pleasant as possible. This boutique slot in the heart of the theater district is accessible to theaters, restaurants, retail stores and transportation. The rooms are small and yet never feel cramped or uncomfortable and the bathrooms are lovely. Noise is not a real factor and once people are in their rooms you generally feel the privacy that surrounds you.

Bare minimum
I chose this hotel mainly because of the price. I came to visit friends in the city but wanted a hotel so that I could come and go as I please and so that I could have a place to crash. That's what the Mayfair is. It is not luxurious, aesthetically pleasing, or roomy, but it gets the job done. The lone elevator is remarkably small. My room was basically big enough for the bed, and that's it. It didn't feel dirty but didn't feel terribly clean either. The carpet was older. The window faced a wall, so there was no view (unless you consider a brick wall to be a view). The heat and a/c worked well and the wall-mounted flat screen TV was nice. My bed had a long black hair between the sheets and what bothered me is that I know that the throw pillows have to be placed on the floor while the bed is being made-- those same pillows are lying against the pillows you sleep on. Kinda gross. The bathroom was tiny and when I ran the water in the sink, water leaked out from the floor and made a puddle. The shower was SMALL. If you are overweight, this hotel is not for you! I am a tall and in-shape male, and I had a problem in the shower, especially when washing my legs. The water pressure and temperature were good. There was an extra movable mirror on the wall that made shaving easy. The staff was pretty friendly, although one of the younger guys at the front desk acted like he didn't know what he was doing when he checked me in. The location was excellent- right by Broadway (the hotel is directly beside the Book of Mormon theater), HK, Time's Square, etc. I would stay here again simply for the convenience and the price. It's small and has NO frills but it gets the job done. ALSO- there is a $12 gas surcharge that you have to pay upon checkout. I'm guessing it's for the heat in the winter.
