Hotel Wales, located in the exclusive Upper East of Manhattan in the prestigious Carnegie Hill Neighborhood. 102 years after its debut as the Aristocratic hotel Chastaigneray, HOTEL WALES, on Madison Ave and 92nd Street continues to offer a genteel refuge to discerning travelers. Hotel Wales is just a block from the former Carnegie, Vanderbilt and Sloan Mansions on Fifth Avenue. More than a half dozen major museums, including the Metropolitan, Guggenheim, Cooper Hewitt and Jewish Museum are in close proximity as are the galleries, haute couture designers and chic boutiques, restaurants cafes of Madison Ave, Harlem, Randalls Island, quick access to the Bronx and Queens, and Yankee Stadium. Renovated in 2009. The ten-story hotel consists of 89 Guestrooms and Penthouse accommodations, of which 43 are Elegant Suites. Many of the rooms command views of Central Park and the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis reservoir, in addition to the serene atmosphere of the surrounding residential neighborhood. Each guestroom focuses its attentions on the detailed pieces of Millwork that surround the windows, doorways, and original cased openings between the sitting rooms and bedrooms. Decorative fireplaces, featuring exquisite dark wood moldings and carefully refurbished turn-of the-century Beaux-Arts details are found in each of the Suite Accommodations. Public areas include The Carnegie Lounge, where guests can gather, relax or read. The Carnegie Lounge is ideal for social functions in a living room setting. The Madison Room, Park Room or Lexington Room is popular for intimate gatherings and Corporate Meetings. Our Fitness Studio is open 24 hours a day. Guests have 24 hours a day access to High-Speed Internet and Business Services on the Second Floor.

absolutely lovely

Our room was spacious by any standards, and it was clear the bathroom had been newly remodeled. We love the neighborhood feel of the Upper East Side and couldn't have been happier. Noise was never a problem even though we had an unhappy toddler across the hallway!

Close to Mt Sinai Hospital

It is fairly close to the hospital and that is the main reason I choose this hotel. The room was very noisy, noises from the streets are direct to your ears!

Nice hotel

Hotel is in a great location. Public areas are well finished with a historic feel - business center and meeting room very nice. Room was fine, but cold. In need of some basic repairs of the ceiling. Breakfast does not exist as buffet style.

Always happy to,return for another stay.

I have stayed at the Wales many times for its proximity to museums on the upper east side. As a result I have frequented many of the good neighborhood restaurants, and shopped at nearby drug stores and for other necessities. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms well appointed since their renovation a few years back, and their upgraded bathrooms delightful. My only wish is that they still, offered breakfast, which made it a real find. Adjoining Sarabeth's, however, is a great place to eat breakfast. I plan to return again.

Mt. Sinai visit

I stayed here because my mother was having a procedure at Mt Sinai Hospital and had to stay overnight. Hotel is only 7 blocks from hospital so it was only a 5 minute walk. Very convenient. Hotel was very nice. Room was extremely clean and spacious. Would recommend this hotel to everyone!!!

Worst value-price ever

First of all I pay for a King suite, and it turned out to be, not only not nice at all but I couldn't even rest because it wasnt sound proof. The bathroom shower was horrible, as well as the towels, etc. Probably the only decent thing was the bed I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, and I myself would never stay in there again

Not worth the price

Close to main attractions but rooms were too small. No fridge or microwave. Many complaints at desk room temperature. Staff appeared oblivious to hotel goings on.
