Not a Luxury Hotel

When checking in the hotel, we found the lobby area to be clean but small. Upon arrival, our room wasn't ready however the staff made us feel welcome by offering us a beverage while we waited and they were extremely friendly. After waiting a few hours for our room, we entered and it was quite disturbing. It looked like a college dormitory. It was older, smelly and barely any amenities. Certainly not what one would expect from a luxury brand property. Truly a disappointment.

Short Business Trip

The hotel was a nice diversion from the typical midtown hotel. My impression was that the restaurant was generally frequented by local neighborhood residents and few hotel patrons. While the food was good, the atmostphere was a bit geriatric. No bar no atmosphere. The business center was something that was under construction while I was there, so its lack of availability was a bit of an inconvenience. Regardless, I will go back.

Nice hotel

Highlights from our stay: Great staff! Everyone was extremely friendly & helpful. Room & lobby were just ok, I was not impressed & for the price expected something nicer. Our room was facing the street & at night we were able to hear quite a bit of street noise. Thankfully the hotel is located on a semi quiet street. The bar was over priced: $23 for a cranberry & vodka is over priced even by NYC standards. Overall it is a nice hotel with great staff however for the cost per night I would not return. I would prefer to try a different hotel.

Room without a view...

Windows stared directly into a brick wall 5 feet away. Construction woke us up 2 days in a row before 8 AM. Noise continued all morning. Construction worker watched me change. Tiny bar had broken air conditioning. Spa was great except for the construction drilling in the background. Tub didn't drain on first night until we requested repairs. Bathroom was tiny and old. When you pay top dollar and you feel like royalty it is always worth it. Unfortunately this hotel was unable to live up to the price tag. Definitely not a 5 star experience. If not for the location this would be a 2 star review.

Value for money

the experience was amazing. The hotel was perfect, the staff was friendly. The only problem was that the room given had no view and there was very bad reception. But overall the hotel and location is very good. Also be prepared to pay for bell room service and room service.

A Xmas Weekend in New York

Good Hotel. The room was clean. Absoluitely no view: they put us in a room a back of Hotel, but I was a "one-nighter", so I didn't care. Staff was nice and obliging. Emily wanted a massage on short notice (on a Saturday, yet) and they obliged--for $286, which must be a new world record. On balance, it was a nice experience, although I prefer the Regency (which was not available, or priced out of sight).

While it is nice to be in New York City just before Xmas, everybody thinks so too, so it is a madhouse and very costly.
