Best 5 Star Deal in Manhattan

Welcome to the Plaza Athenee! You have stumbled across a real treat, and will not be disappointed. These rooms are some of the largest you will ever find in NYC. And the location - walking distance to Central Park, Barney's NY, FAO Shwartz, and the Vacheron Constantine store make it pretty well situated for anything you need to see, do, or buy! For a price...

Value for money

the experience was amazing. The hotel was perfect, the staff was friendly. The only problem was that the room given had no view and there was very bad reception. But overall the hotel and location is very good. Also be prepared to pay for bell room service and room service.

Nice Hotel

The hotel has gone through a nice renovation and to our surprise they upgraded us to a 'superior room' but my room wasn't ready. Instead, I was 'upgraded' to a room that was opposite a laundry and a linen's room and the doors were banging all night long. After I brought this to the attention to the front desk, they changed my room for my final night. The gym is nice and hotel is close to Central Park if you are a jogger. the area is very nice and good restos close by. Also within walking distance of Metropolitan Museum for 'Savage Beauty' exhibit for Alex McQueen. Get there early because the crowds are insane!

Dining tip: In Hotel

Warning: Don't eat in the hotel restaurant - Dinner for two = $`128.00 and breakfast for cereal, juice, and tea came to $78.00 and the wait staff hovers like a helicopter and all four of them thought I was going to hand out bills like a U.A.E. prince.

Spring Break

Our four day stay at the Plaza-Athenee was as close to perfect as one could expect. We needed two rooms, preferably adjoining. We arrived early the day of check-in and found we had adjoining rooms and one was ready and waiting. The other was ready by noon. It was a good start and we were very impressed. The rooms were all that could be expected for a luxury hotel. Everything worked and everything was extra clean -- and they were large by NYC standards. The staff at the hotel was very friendly. There was no 'attitude' anywhere. Our names were remembered and used by the staff that we encountered more than once. The location was ideal -- upper east side -- a safe neighborhood within walking distance to museums, galleries, good shopping and restaurants. We had a great week and would return to that hotel whenever we have the opportunity.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

For stays longer than a few day, a NYC Subway card (MetroCard) is an ideal purchase. It provides unlimited use of subways and buses and will save many steps and much time.

First Class New York

My 10 year old son and I spent 6 days in Manhattan touring the museums, seeing shows and visiting the candy shops. I am an ex-New Yorker and staying at the Plaza Athenee was like staying in my own home, only better because I was waited on hand and foot. This is a very elegant hotel and service is their number one priority. It is not suited to a big, loud group, but if you are looking to experience what it is like to be a native New Yorker living on the upper east side, this is the property for you. The restaurant, while very good, is very expensive, but there are a lot of options just outside the hotel.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

The location of this hotel is 10 blocks from midtown, 15 blocks from museum mile and right near countless fabulous restaurants. It is also easy to take public transportation to other areas of the city.
