Well-respected grand European style boutique hotel in Manhattan
Following a recent multimillion dollar renovation, guests relish staying at the "new" Hotel Plaza Athenee. It is elegant, extremely comfortable, and understated, but pampers guests with outstanding service. Located in a quiet, atmospheric tree-lined residential street on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, guests at Hotel Plaza Athenee can live life like a local New Yorker in the surroundings of many traditional New York townhouses.Hotel Plaza Athenee Rooms
- Classic King
- King bedded room with writing desk, 2 chairs and occasional table, marble bathrooms, plasma TV and CD player or ipod docking station. The style is classic European elegance. Some classic rooms have a pantry. These rooms are located on floors 2-4 and the average size is 320 sq ft (30 sq meters).
- Superior King
- Well appointed king-bedded guestroom featuring new dcor with a European townhouse feel. Fabrics are in either a cinnamon and yellow scheme or a more muted grey, beige and mint green palette. Expensive but very good
Stayed over Christmas 2009 while visiting son in New York. This was a first class hotel, expensive but you get what you pay for.

First Class New York
My 10 year old son and I spent 6 days in Manhattan touring the museums, seeing shows and visiting the candy shops. I am an ex-New Yorker and staying at the Plaza Athenee was like staying in my own home, only better because I was waited on hand and foot. This is a very elegant hotel and service is their number one priority. It is not suited to a big, loud group, but if you are looking to experience what it is like to be a native New Yorker living on the upper east side, this is the property for you. The restaurant,while very good, is very expensive, but there are a lot of options just outside the hotel.

The location of this hotel is 10 blocks from midtown, 15 blocks from museum mile and right near countless fabulous restaurants. It is also easy to take public transportation to other areas of the city.

European Feel
Very nice hotel, excellent service. Missing a coffee maker in the room - while we treat ourselves to luxuries we are way too cheap (or reasonable?) to pay over $10 for a cup of coffee from room service.

Hotel Plaza Athenee
Room was large and staff was very attentive and friendly. Due to construction health center was closed but a health club was available nearby.
