Poor Hotel Standards; Friendly Assoicat

Mostly Shopping, the hotel standards were very poor. For example, the rooms were very dated; would not stay again.

Hotel or Hostel?

This was my second visit to this hotel. The first was a stag night so I wasn't that bothered. The fact the 3rd person in the room slept on a roll up bed (but paid the same). The room was dirty and old. I put that down to experience. This last trip (in a superior room no less) saw a dirty room with bare wires, loose sink and no fittings in the bath! The bedside light went off when you sat on the bed - again broken electrical sockets. The room was brighter when you switched off the lights due to bright street lighting. My honest opinion was the room should be condemned!

awful

This is a tourist hotel for cheap travelers. It is one step up from a hostel. They are terribly understaffed - check-in took 55 minutes as only two people were working the desk despite the long and very obvious line. The rooms and hallways are drab and dirty. There is no internet. I booked for three nights but left after one when I saw a mouse in my room. Need I say more?

Not the Best Place to stay

The hotel has really gone downhill since the last time I stayed there a few years ago. We had trouble from arrival to departure. Upon arrival, they sent us to a dirty room, then handle in shower broke in second room. They sent us to another room which was occupied, and finally we landed in a room with no towels, ice bucket, etc. When I went on my own to get some towels from the maids on the floor, they wouldn't even give us an extra wash cloth. They wanted to placate us with two free muffins and cups of tea, and after three visits to the front desk, we got one night back for all our hassles. We later learned that an article has been published in a local newspaper saying that the building the hotel is in is slated for destruction. The only reason we continued our stay was the location - right next to the Bolt Bus stop and across the street from Madison Square Garden/Penn Station. The staff was helpful, but it felt like they were hindered by those in higher authority. Would not recommend the hotel in its current state to anyone!

Very disappointed, we don't recommend!

Great customer service, great location, small rooms, bathroom was really poor and old, and towards the morning in our room (nonsmoking room) start to smell like smoke from other rooms, or hallway

Terrible hotel

Wait to check in was about 30 minutes. Rooms are very old and in very poor shape (paint chipping from walls, ceiling blistered in bathroom, metal is rusted). Felt like I was staying in a hostel.

Hotel as of review

Hotel lobby was kind of grand and welcoming though receptionist was not friendly at all. The room was terrible! I booked a double bed for two person because I read that rooms are small. Turns out that even the double bed room is also extremely small! Toilet door was faulty and couldn't even close at all! Room was extremely dusty and has a smell. This hotel definitely needs a renovation!! Location is good though (opposite madison square garden and within walking distance to penn station)

Negative experience

We went to the city to see a show at the Lincoln Center. The price for the hotel was just right for us and the location couldn't be more perfect. The room had a very dirty carpet, the air conditioner unit was filthy, the baseboard molding was falling apart and had some black disgusting stuff behind it. The best part though was being attacked by bedbugs in the middle of the night. Hundreds of them. They came out only after we turned the lights off. When we felt them, they were already all over the pillows, sheets, covers, coming from between the mattress and the box spring. Traumatic experience. We were given our money back and a cleaner room to stay the rest of the night. The night shift manager was very polite and apologetic about the whole situation. I can only wonder what they usually do to contain the spread of the bugs to the other rooms.
