Good value
Great MidTown location with quiet, comfortable room. Bathroom sink looks cool, but is near impossible to use (particularly for my husband who was trying to shave). Overall, nice place to crash while exploring the city. Heads up: they add a $1 donation to a charity for each night of your stay, which will be charged unless you ask for it to be removed.

Small room but very clean
First the not-so-bad: When I came in, the lobby was posh but it was very dimly lit. I am not a fan of dark places. The room that I have stayed in was very small, especially the bathroom. Reminded me of the bathrooms in B&Bs in Europe. The ugly: The room that I stayed in was facing Madison Ave. I could hear the street noise even at wee hours of the night. The beautiful: Despite all of the things that I mentioned above, I loved my stay here. The front desk was very helpful, my room looked amazing, not to mention extremely clean. I was just a bit curious why there is no door hanger that says "do not disturb" in the rooms. Oh and they don't have room service, but it's okay cause that means more time to go outside and explore the food offerings of NYC!

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
On 34th St. (from the Hotel Lola, go west, cross Madison Ave, walk until 5th street and then turn right and walk north towards 34th) is a street filled with shops. Not as crowded as 5th Ave and Times Square shops. Also on 29th Street (go towards Park Ave, opposite of where Madison Ave is), you will see the Gansevoort Park Ave, for the Kardashian fans ;)

Sexy Lighting
Sexy Lighting
Let me start out by saying any concierge that I spoke to was extremely knowledgeable about the city. The building was under constructions, so there was scaffolding at both entrances. I noticed reviews prior to purchasing that someone else mentioned there was construction and thought it should be complete by early 2012. We were there in May 2012. Another review stated that the hotel lobby was dark/dim. Oh, boy was it ever! they called it "Sexy lighting" I would rather see what I'm doing, if you ask me. The "Sexy" lighting continued to the room, and I really wish I would have brought my reading glasses to help me see in the room! I really had to strain to read anything without light. I know a few people that keep the lights low and it is to hide the dirt/dust! I think that was the purpose in this case too. The room was extremely small, as to be expected in New York City, but come on... The bathroom was tiled top to bottom. Nice but too much water went on the floor from the shower and there was no exhaust fan to dry it out. In a few years this hotel is going to be ridden with mold, mildew and roaches because roaches love the moist, damp, dark, sexy light. The last day we were there an unexpected guest was on the bathroom floor. After smashing the roach, I wrapped it in a tissue and placed it in a plastic cup to bring to the front desk. When I handed the clerk the cup and explained there was a dead roach in the cup and that there was another one in the window sill, he said, "oh, I'll have to tell my manager. Thank you." That was pretty much it. I suppose I could have complained, the squeaky wheel and all that, but I was just happy to leave. look somewhere else.

an uneven experience
The entrance is like a nightclub, disorienting even at mid-day. The staff were very helpful. The rooms are functional but small. The internet costs 7% of the room cost. A 'recommended' donation to a charity was included on my bill, I had to ask that it be removed. THIS IS BAD BEHAVIOR.

Clean, Comfortable, and Convenient
I arrived early morning and went to drop off my bag - and found that my room was ready! Rooms are not large, but the bed is comfortable, room was spotless - and after all, you don't go to NYC to stay in your hotel room. I was shocked at how quiet it was; didn't hear a siren all night. Decor is modern/minimalist. Definitely will stay there again

Great hotel for leisure or business travel
I was very pleased with my stay. The room had two twin beds, which for me was small (because I am used to a King size bed), BUT it was soooo comfy! I could have slept all day had my schedule permitted ; ) We got in town very early because of the red eye flight, and the staff was gracious enough to allow us to check in early (8:30 am) even though check in wasn't until 3pm and we were not charged a fee to do so. I would definitely stay here again.

Disapointed.
Easy to book, and easy to get in. But once in I regretted to have ever booked. No glasses in the room, not even plastic ones - nothing. Bathroom with poor illumination - my wife had to use her own mirror and sit by the bed where she had good light... I called lobby two different times in two different days and in both opportunities nobody would answer. I went on a adventure to look for the ice machine...luckily a maide told me it was on the 10th floor. The hotel can be good, but they need some special touch and more training. Price would've been fair if the basics were there, but they weren't...

great location
overall, this was a pleasant experience. welcoming lobby design. my room was small, but wholly clean and functional. pleasantly surprised by the firmness of the pillows. only two anecdotal negatives to speak of: -told two different staff members about the malfunctioning ellipticals, but over four days they were never fixed -the glass door on the shower kept allowing large amounts of water to leak out to the bathroom floor, but since this is a hotel and one has ready access to towels to sop up water, no biggie. decent price, great location, and clean

Holy, Lola!
The lobby is very swank. The Bar staff, concierge, and cleaning crew were extraordinarily nice. ( and spoke English fluently!) The upgraded room was appointed nicely, yet small. (no room for a cot, per se.) The bathroom was very clean and higher end, great water pressure. Design flaw with the shower doors, though. Great room for one person! Two for more than a couple of days would be a little tough..... Overall, definite 4 stars!!! PS- No Room service, so out to Bread and Butter for your morning coffee and bagel.
