Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Even though we had 3 sunny chilly fall days and was great, the best time to really enjoy this area is in Spring and Summer when all the side walk cafes and restaurants are open air

Great price for location and what you get

Very nice hotel. Pool and bar on rooftop are nice. About a 20 min walk to Times Square. My non-smoking room smelled like smoke when I got there which I didn't like but great staff and had a nice time.

Over rated "hotspot"

This hotel may be a "hotspot", but the staff knows it and certainly doesn't care if you return. The noise level all night is extremely loud and the room comfort is below average. The location is great because you are right in the Meatpacking district. Given the attitude, noise factor and price, I won't be staying there again.

Nice hotel - fun roof top bar

Had a great stay- staff was nice. Upgraded me from smoking floor after stated preference to be on non-smoking floor. Really fun, hip rooftop bar. DJ was awesome. Rooms clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

Great Spa

Got earlier than check in time, so went to get a massage in the hotel's spa. It was just incredible. Location is great, just at the heart of MP district. Opportunities, The hotel is overall nice, but for the price, rooms are a bit small and crowded, and staff is newyorker dont bother me style.. If that is ok with you then you should get along.

Great Stay even for children

We had a great experience staying at the Gansevoort. Even though it has a party vibe and scene at night, it didn't impact our stay at all. In fact, this was a good hotel for children (there's the roof pool and a great playground just a block away), so it worked out well for everyone - fun for the adults in to be in that area of Manhattan and fun for the children as well. The staff were friendly in general and very friendly with our children (ages 2 and 4).

Trendy, Classy, Overpriced...

I had a short, quick one night stay here and the rooms are top notch (Deluxe Room). Pool scene was not what I was hoping it would be (very tiny). Needs to be a good DJ out there. They should spice it up a little if Gansevoort wants to continue attracting the trendier crowd. Plunge on Rooftop is not the place to dance as it's small, however great view of the city and being able to access without waiting in line does make you feel 'important'. Make sure to come with the right 'crew' or you'll find it's very difficult to meet other pretentious people at the club. Didn't feel 5 star, but then again I was only here one night and was barely in the room so I'm probably not the best to judge it. They also weren't too strict on check-out by noon, which was nice when you're partying until 6 am and waking up at noon with a hangover from another world and wouldn't be able to pack your bags with any ounce of energy. However, I do plan on doing a 2 nighter there in a few weeks, so I'll be back. But then again, I tend to pick places based on 'status' and what's trendy, which are the people who usually book rooms here anyway. People certainly not on a budget, least to say.

As soon as you book your trip, book dinner reservation in the area immediately for a few places and when you arrive you pick the place on your time rather theirs!

Overall, it was excellent!! Great location!! The only issue was they were slow in getting a light fixture replaced, I had to ask two times before it was done. Outside of this, I have no complaints.
