Only an overnight stay, thank GOD!

My sisters and I drove up from Boston for the Wendy Williams Show. We wanted a place close to Times Square so that we could easily take a cab to the Wendy studio. Hotel Edison fit the bill. PROS: * Location. It can't be beat! You can walk to Times Square & back in 5 minutes *Valet parking is 24-hours and convenient. CONS: I expected a small space and thin walls based on other reviews but this place was even worse than I imagined. By far the worse place I've ever stayed - and I travel a lot. * The walls are paper thin so it felt like the frat house next door was partying in my room and on my bed. The walls provided absolutely no buffer and unfortunately the neighbors didn't go to sleep until about 4:30am which is precisely when my alarm went off! I called security to ask them to be quiet and that did nothing. * I wish I had slippers to protect my feet from the extremely worn and run down shower. To say that the bathroom was tiny is an understatement. You could sit on the toilet, wash your hands in the sink and stick a foot in the shower simultaneously. The shower curtain (which happened to be clothe) was dirty and in need of changing. I can't imagine the amount of bacteria crawling on that thing. Ew! * The heater didn't work it continued to blow out cool air and it sounded like rats were racing back and forth in it all night. Maintenance came up to fix it but then it got too hot because it was turned to the max setting. Once I turned it off, I couldn't get it to turn back on so I literally slept in a North Face hoodie. * The man guarding the elevator treated my sisters & I like suspects even though he watched us check in. He rode the elevator up with us when we first arrived which was very odd because he didn't do that to anyone else and later that night when I walked toward the rear entrance of the hotel in search of an ice machine, he followed me. He made me/us very uncomfortable. If he didn’t have a hotel name tag on, I would have thought he was a stalker. * The business center was ridiculously overpriced so bring your own laptop and printer if you plan on researching or printing anything! I didn't need it but planned on doing a review so I checked it out for future potential guests. OVERALL: GREAT location, but this hotel is in MAJOR need of some basic 21st century updates. The potential of this place is amazing because of location alone but it didn't deliver.

I feel like they have fooled us

This hotel has the best location in New York. The room was clean . We felt safe in there. Our reservation was for three persons but the sofa bed in the room 718 was not only old and overused ,almost broken but also filthy. The lady in the reception told us that there was not any other available room to change . We were three persons so unfortunately one of us had to use it to sleep. She graduated for fakir. I feel like they have fooled us. This room should be proposed only for two people.

Great location, Clean

I booked the Standard 2 Queen room. Very clean, good quality linen & comfortable mattress. The bathroom is modern and clean - large shower, lots of towels...could use a soap dish! Coffee maker would be great to have as there is nowhere you can get coffee in the hotel.Staff are very friendly. The location is perfect!

Excellent location for New Year

The hotel is perfectly located just next to Times Sq. Rooms are clean, and had a nice view to Times Sq. The price was very reasonable considering the location, and it even has a restaurant and a bar in case you dont want to go out of the hotel. Excellent experience and definetly will come back. Look forward to my next visit!

a mixed bag

I was taking my son to The Book of Mormon and chose the Hotel due to its proximity and cost. For those two items AND the phenomenal fitness room, I liked it. One big however though was that there wasn't a fan in the bathroom or one that worked connected with the heat or a.c. This made being on the 6th floor just unbelievably loud. Not only could we hear the people in the rooms on either side of us, the street noise (literally clanging dumpsters at 630 a.m.) was not conducive to sleep. Also when you wake up in the middle of night and body parts have fallen asleep, it's an indication you're laying on a bad mattress. The front desk staff seemed apathetic. Yet the transportation desk women were very helpful and nice..

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Hate to even say it as I don't want the place to get too popular and crowded, but bar none, the best sea bass I have ever eaten was at the restaurant called Heck's Kitchen.

Location! Location! Location!

The Edison Hotel is a very clean, recently remodeled, Art Deco hotel, right in the heart of Times Square. It is within blocks of all the major Broadway theatres and only a couple of blocks from the subway for ventures outside the theatre district. Central Park is just a short walk away, as is Radio City Music Hall and Rockefeller Center. The hotel is very reasonable priced and the staff is top notch. Highly recommended.

Nightlife tip: Not Applicable

Unsold tickets to Broadway shows are available at a discount (usually 50%) at the TKTS ticket booths on the day of performance. While the booth on Times Square is convenient, the lines are usually quite long and begin forming hours before the booth is open. TKTS has a booth in Brooklyn at Metro Tech Center. It is a short 20 minute subway ride and lines there are nonexistent. They also sell tickets to both the evening performance, as well as the following day matinee. (Times Square TKTS sells tickets only the day of the performance.) You can take the subway to Brooklyn and be back with your tickets in less time than you would spend in the TKTS line in Times Square. To get to TKTS Brooklyn, take the C train from Times Square (or 49th Street and 8the Avenue) to Jay Street/Metro Tech in Brooklyn (10 stops beyond Times Square).
