We are a world traveling gay couple and made plans months in advance for Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. Upon arrival at the ... hotel the front desk clerk, a woman, asked us three times if it was correct that we wanted a king sized bed. She sneered at us. I am sure that we are not the first gay couple she has seen. There was one prissy concierge who was not at all helpful, otherwise everone else was very friendly. The room was quiet, clean and huge for New York standards.

Awesome location. Room was great size for NYC. Only complaints were unseasonalbly warm November and A/C was turned off for ... the season and carpet needed a cleaning. But considering how little we were in the room it was irrelevant. Location made up for that and more. Internet would be a nice addition.

Poor customer service DO NOT STAY
MR International Oct 22, 2009
Checked into hotel and was not advised that cool air conditioning is not available at the hotel. apparently due to the age of ... the hotel it has two modes for aircon which is hot or cold. It was a hot two day stay and they refused to turn the aircon on, was staying in a room sweaty and with two loud desk fans and windows open in order to try and reduce the temperature. was lied to by staff that its a law that aircon is disabled??? state law of temperature control? lol... The manager that i spoke to decided to call security when i checked out a day early to intimidate and i took a video of it which will be on youtube shortly. The one of the two windows in the room was broken and fell of the latches. THIS WAS THE WORST HOTEL STAY EVER!!! I decided to book at another nearby holiday inn, which had great service and air conditioning that worked.

When we visit NYC we are there to shop and experience the night life; so basically we look for a clean place just to rest our ... weary selves. This Holiday Inn was comfortable, clean and staff was more than pleasant and helpful. The hotel is located just a block away from a subway stop, a variety of stores and places to eat.

Great Time
Angel Oct 17, 2009
We recently stayed a week after a trip to Washington, D.C. Although the hotel is nothing xtra special, the room was clean ... and the staff friendly in that New Yorkers way (a little brash, but helpful). Wanted to go to a show, and the Conceirge suggested Mary Poppins, we got great seats we all loved the show including both our kids ages 17 and 21. The hotel is within walking distance of everything including Central Park (don't miss). We were able to take a nighttime carriage ride (very nice), then walked the park in the daylight. Even though the subway is very close to the hotel, we walked for the exercise and to be able to see more things. We even walked down to the Empire State Building which is on approximately 33rd. Only walk if you enjoy walking, if not take the subway. We would definitely stay here again.

If you get the chance go to the Carnegie Deli on 7th and 55th. Yes the food is a little expensive, but it is well worth it. The corned beef sandwich is big enough to share and still be full!! Also, if you want an after dinner snack..the cheesecake is WONDERFUL!!!

The location of the hotel was great, just block from Central Park and the Theater District. Easy access to many ... attractions. We had problems with ironing board, which was taken care by the staff. Didn't take advantage of the pool or restaurant. Our room was clean and comfortable. No frills, but we would recommend it for anyone.

trip to see yankee game!
yankee fans Sep 22, 2009
we went for 4nights/3days there were 4 adults traveling and we only booked 1 room. when we got there we were told that the ... room with the double beds didn't quite fit 4 adults comfortably, so the clerk gave us a king bed room (handicap room) and ordered us a double bed roll-a-way and we weren't even charged extra for it, she also gave us 4 free coupons for a continental breakfast in the cafe or a drink at the bar because she said she was sorry for the inconvinience. The room was a good size and was comfortable. it wasn't fancy but it was clean, and the bed and roll-a-way bed were very comfortable.the concierge was a little rude, but the rest of the staff was very friendly. We were there to see a Yankee game, and the location was great, it was about a 3-5 min walk to columbus circle, shopping mall and to the subway and central park. there is a cafe and bar in the hotel. In the area there are pretty good food places to get a quick bite to eat. FYI If you order at the counter of any bakery, deli, hotdog stand be prepared to know exactly what you want to eat and drink have your money ready, pay and then step aside.this was our first trip to New York and it won't be our last.
