Not Recommended

The room was small and the bathroom tiny. It was so small the toilet had to be installed at an angle so the bathroom door would close. But the main reason I would never stay there again was the air conditioning, or lack thereof. The room was a sauna. When I requested a new room I was told that the system was a one way system. Meaning it can do heat or cool air but not both at the same time and it takes the system a few days to change over. We of course were caught in the middle, if they are to be believed. If this is true then this antiquated hotel needs an major upgrade. On a positive note, I did like the convenience of the 24 hour parking garage right next door and hotel parking validation. It cost $23 from 3pm to 9am the following day ( a bargain in NYC). I also liked the proximity to the West Side highway (so we could get the heck away from the place ASAP).

A horrible start to a great trip ...

This was a last minute get away surprise for my family - they had no idea anything was planned until we arrived at the airport and I told them what was in store. Everyone was obviously very exited. Until ... we arrived at our hotel. The hotel was subpar for a Holiday Inn. The lobby was ok but the rooms are a little run down. On top of that, we were booked in a smoking room from the 1960's(yes it really was so filled with smoke in the hallway we could cut it with a knife) however, our family doesn’t smoke. I didn't ask for a smoking room but for whatever reason the Orbitz rep I placed our order with (by phone) put us in a smoking room. The hotel couldn't do anything to help us as they were totally sold out. I tried calling Orbitz when we got into our room (around mid-night) but they were useless. I spent well over 90 minutes on the phone trying desperately to get moved to another hotel but ultimately failed. I'm so disappointed and unhappy - even weeks later now. Orbitz accounting was supposedly going to call me the Monday after our trip but no one did.

Front desk receptionist needs training!

I'll start off by saying the hotel location is unbeatable. With that being said however, the staff at the front desk particularly this woman named [...] was horrible. Unfriendly and downright a [*] this eastern european woman with a thick accent and even a thicker skull made people wait in line over 20 minutes just to check out while she was pretending to be busy behind the counter and flirting with some male guests. The rooms especially to the outside (twords the road) are very very noisy, but if you go higher( meaning from the 14th floor up!) the noise tends to fade out. You hear all the NY morning traffic with the lovely cabbies resting on the horn, so i'd strongly advise either a high up top room or a inside the court view one.TV remote did not work, on several rooms apparently as they had ran out of working ones. Bathrooms are really really small.Overall i'd say great location, but i personally would not trade that for a friendly service and working devices, especially since current economic times are making great hotels be very comptetitive with some big chain ones, such as this one.

nightmear trip

The pool was out doors so we could not use the pool once, it rained everyday! When you buy in a bundle if something goes wrong at the hotel I can not go to another place because I already paid. When we first got to the hotel the room was not ready. The lady at the front desk tried to down grade us to a dobbed bed, even though we were on our honeymoon. Than I slid in the elevator and my husband cached me before I feel. So I asked the desk if they could clean up whatever was there so no one else would get hurt. The elevator was still slippery that night and they only asked once if I was ok and did not seem to care. Than we got room service once and they left in the hall way over night and till the next morning for a good 10 hours. Very gross Than the man to set up our way back to the airport, did us no favors. he told us the bus would take us back at 6am and we would get there on time, not to worry, took our money $50.00 and. we were out there 540am till 620pm NO one came. SO we had had to get a taxi and, he told us it was a flat rate, which was not told to us!! than we had to pay another 40$ and never got our money back. The air condenser did not work for 2 days. They did not do anything for us. Than the water stopped running. No manger was there. They did not call anyone in. They did not put up any signs! Very poorly set up. I know it was no surprise when we were talking around town we saw signs on apts saying when the water will be out. They did not plan anything well and lied. There was no bathrooms, water, air conditioning for a day and half almost and there was not one person there to help us. No papers anywhere, they did not even tell anyone what was going on. They are very poorly managed. I already paid and it was at the end of our trip and it was to late to go somewhere else! I would never go there again! They told us to call tomorrow 6/23 and someone would help us but when we called they hung up on us 3 times! Very rude people

Sightseeing tip: Long walk from hotel

Everything was a long walk, you needed to get a meto pass to take the train or the bus. To go to the stat. of liberty you needed months of reservations to get inside.

Poor customer service DO NOT STAY

Checked into hotel and was not advised that cool air conditioning is not available at the hotel. apparently due to the age of the hotel it has two modes for aircon which is hot or cold. It was a hot two day stay and they refused to turn the aircon on, was staying in a room sweaty and with two loud desk fans and windows open in order to try and reduce the temperature. was lied to by staff that its a law that aircon is disabled??? state law of temperature control? lol... The manager that i spoke to decided to call security when i checked out a day early to intimidate and i took a video of it which will be on youtube shortly. The one of the two windows in the room was broken and fell of the latches. THIS WAS THE WORST HOTEL STAY EVER!!! I decided to book at another nearby holiday inn, which had great service and air conditioning that worked.

Hotel room okay, stuff bad

The hotel room was okay. It`s old but still mostly clean. Staff was very rude and unfriendly. Rooms are very noisy due to thin walls. AC was not working. Hotel had no umbrellas available when it was raining cats and dogs.

Extremely bad smell in the room

This hotel has a very bad musty smell that literally can make you sick. The vent in the bathroom had about an inch of dust hanging from it. Not my idea of a 3-star hotel. The location was great and the hotel was quiet, but that's all I can say for this one. Keep looking........
