The good and the bad
The staff at the hotel were exceptional. However, I encountered a problem with the bathroom lights. The lights were on motion sensors and kept going out despite movement. If you were in the shower, they went out. If you were at the sink or toilet they went out. Light switch was outside the bathroom and to turn lights back on you had to open bathroom door. Management was aware but could do nothing to fix these lights. Very inconvenient.

Average
The room was average, nothing special. The bathtub wasn't clean, however the rest of the room appeared clean. The rooms are small and the bathroom is small enough to brush your teeth while taking a shower and using the toilet all at the same time. I suppose this is average for NYC though. The hotel staff was very helpful, courteous and friendly. They very kindly stored our bags after check out so we could continue sight seeing on our last day, without dragging our luggage along. the concierge was helpful with event tickets and dining suggestions.

Super Get Away...Most Professional Staff
The hotel's staff was professional and friendly. Any questions were clearly answered, there was a pleasant tone in everyones voice. The location was in the middle of all the was happening, yet, a slight way into the opposite end of Broadway that it wasn't as noisy. We went shopping, to the restaurants, the comedy show uptown and sightseeing. We had a stupendous experience there. We will be returning again soon!!!

Great Staff, Location, and Amenities
I was on the third floor in a room next to the linen room. I could always hear the subway trains go by, noise from the street, and noise from the linen room. Having lived in the city before, all the noise didn't bother me. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. The room had a queen bed, large desk, large dresser, and plenty of space in which to move around. Having a microwave, coffeepot, and fridge was great! There was a nice sized flat screen TV, complimentary wireless (or wired) internet, and remote printing available. The in-room AC worked great; the room was never too hot or too cold. The only minor issue I had was that the water in the shower took a good 7 or 8 minutes to fully heat up. The hotel is in a great location; just a short walk to The Lion King, Wicked, and the subway. The walk to/from Port Authority was not bad either; took about 10 minutes. Overall, the hotel was great and I would stay there again.

Take advantage of the microwave in the room. Bring some bowls and spoons and heat up a can of soup instead of buying an expensive meal.

Great Location
I was given a room that was unacceptable because of very loud noise coming from a ac vent in the hallway outside my room. I complained that they changed me room.

Great Theatre District Hotel
I really enjoyed my stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Times Square. The service was outstanding! I felt safe with someone always checking room keys before allowing us to enter the elevator. The concierge was very kind and helpful. The room was very comfortable. The linens were crisp, clean and of good quality. The firmness of the bed is adjustable. The location is the best. It is within a few blocks of most theatres. My favorite restaurant in the area is Ristorante Il Melograno on the northwest corner of 51st and 8th Avenue, a 10 minute walk. A small family owned Italian restaurant with delicious food and friendly service. The prices are reasonable too. The only negative thing I was in room 207. It was right behind the elevators. I always use earplugs to sleep so it didn't bother me that much. Without them, I wouldn't have gotten much sleep.

Quiet Lodging in an excellent location
Fantastic location, close to all Broadway theaters, one block away from a subway station, and yet very quiet and clean inside. The rooms are generously sized and have excellent furnishings. The only thing that marred the whole experience was that the blackout curtains in my room did not extend to the full width of the window, and so the gauzy mirror curtain didn't afford the complete privacy I would have preferred (an office building was next door). But that is a minor complaint - I would gladly stay there again.

Short walk from hotel
Avoid the big restaurant crowds by going to Joe Allen restaurant on 46th just after the 8pm curtain time. It's quiet, cozy, and is a local's favorite.
