Cosy little hotel in Midtown Manhattan

PROs: - Location (2 minutes from Herald Square) - Amenities (very well appointed rooms, very big bathrooms, extremely comfortable bed) - Friendly staff - Cleanliness CONs: - Archaic steam heating systems started to make loud noises in the middle of the night which woke us up every hour. When we complained to the front desk, they sent a technician who said that nothing can be done to fix it. We spent the rest of the night being woken up by the hour.

Great hotel and staff

A great value, comfortable and friendly front-desk staff. The room was quiet. The hotel is in the heart of the city. A great alternative to chain hotels.

Perfect for a weekend trip

We stayed during super bowl weekend and they were completely filled, but still seemed to recognize us when they buzzed us in! The hotel did not feel crowded at all. The staff is so friendly and accomodating. They had a room ready with a crib for our baby, and they sent towels up immediately when we requested extra. We were charged the price quoted to us, no surprises or extra charges (except tax of course.) The rooms do not have a fridge or coffee maker, but they do have complimentary coffee in their lounge. This hotel was clean, convenient and comfortable. It's a 5 minute walk from Penn station, so it was easy to drop off our bags as soon as we got into town. It's walking distance to the flagship Macy's and other iconic stores. Overall, it's a charming hotel that lacks a lot of extra ammenities, but fits the budget!

very clean and perfect location

i picked this hotel for both its location and the price. i was very happy with the choice. plenty of bakeries/restaurants/cafes/shopping centers in the area, easy access to the subway (really, less than 5 minutes walking to the 34th st station), very close to central park (by subway). the hotel doesn't have its own garage; however they do business with a garage 2 blocks away ($43/day :( ) the room was spacious enough, huge bathroom with bath tub and shower. I rated the staff only 3/5 because of the receptionist who checked us out. we asked if we can leave our luggage for a couple of hours, she directed us to the lockers but, failed to mention that we had to buy the tokens from her.

Excellent Place for an excellent price

The staff was always friendly and helpful. Room was clean, and very nice. Had a large bathroom as well. Very historic looking but up to date as well. Will definitely stay at this hotel if I return to NYC.

Nice hotel with a great price

This is a clean and nice hotel. The location is great. They added $2/person/night and the tax % was higher than usual, but it was okay since the price from here was cheap.

Perfect Location

I stayed here two weeks in a row. Great views of the city both times. The rooms have steam heat so if you plan to stay here make sure you are in room thats quiet enough for you. That being said, I plan to stay here again.

Wonderful Hotel

This is a great hotel. I would stay there again. This is NYC. Clean and great location. Others have wrote putting this hotel down. Could it be better... yes, but its a great value for the location. You can't compare a -$200.00 hotel with a +$400.00.

Good location if you don't need amenities

Overall, the hotel wasn't horrible. Considering the price, it was a decent value. My boyfriend and I took this vacation around Christmas time to shop and see the Christmas decorations in the city. This was by far the best value hotel we could find without staying in a hostel. The location was good. It was reasonably cheap to take a cab to Broadway/Times Square and Central Park. The Empire State Building and Macy's are just a 5 minute walk from the hotel. My only real complaint other than the hotel being really basic was the shower. There was little to no hot water. However, the bed was comfortable and if you are looking for a hotel just for a place to sleep, then I would recommend it. The staff was nice and the hotel seemed very secure. Also no bed bugs!
