Stunning and comfortable! Perfect except . . .

This was by far the most attractive hotel I've ever stayed in. In addition to being stylish, it was clean and EXTREMELY comfortable (I actually checked the mattress tag so I could look into buying an identical bed for myself at home). The shower was awesome, too. There is one "but," and for me it is a big but: there was no free wireless internet. To me, wireless is standard in hotels these days - like cable - and guests shouldn't be expected to shell out an extra $15 for what has become a compulsory amenity. Especially not at a hotel as high-end as this one. Fix that and it is pure, unadulterated perfection.

Pleasant stay at the Gild Hall

This was a very pleasant stay. I was impressed with the size of the room, particularly given the New York City location. The decor is also unique. My only complaint was that the pastries in the Continental breakfast on Sunday were stale. If I am paying $15 for a Continental breakfast, I expect fresh pastries.

Financial District Conundrum

Gild Hall is a lovely, small hotel with attentive, pleasant staff. Our room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the bath facilities quite nice. But the other furniture was sparse and, frankly, cheap, without a comfortable chair in which to sit or much space in which to put our belongings. The location in the Financial District is a plus for travelers with business in that neighborhood -- which we were not. The neighborhood empties out during the weekends, and the hotel staff did not have much information to offer regarding places to dine that were close by or even regarding parking. You must do your own research. For example, we were lucky enough to find a parking lot immediately around the corner that was CONSIDERABLY less expensive than the lot with which the hotel contracts. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our stay at Gild Hall and would likely stay there again.

Room could use improvement

Finding the hotel was a bit difficult. The hotel staff is pleasant, however the room needed some work. The room was really dusty and the vents looked dirty. The lights were also flickering all night. Also, the rooms are not sound proof, so I could hear the neighbors all night.

Gild Hall Review

The Gild Hall was a wonderful little hotel. The beds were comfortable bath rooms clean, well stocked and the showers were roomy. In addition, the room service was delicious and fast. I liked the decor of the room and the flat screen tv was great. My only complaint was that the room was dark as the one window looked out across the street onto another building. Also, I had to call and ask for lotion. Otherwise, I was happy with my choice.

Uptown experience/Downtown fun

Saw this hotel on line & didn't bother checking the prices. When I was routed to Orbitz through another website, I couldn't believe I could stay here for the same price as most chain hotels. We were checking out area colleges and seeing the city My daughter, myself and our Swedish exchange student.) We felt like we were totally pampered.

Awesome hotel!

My bf and I came here to spend a night in the city and the hotel itself is very cozy from the moment you walk in. The rooms themselves are small but the beds have down comfortors that you sink right in and the bed itself is amazing. Everything was very clean and the staff very friendly and helpful with all our requests.

My review of Gild Hall

I needed a hotel for one night in the city without having to worry about taking a train back to NJ. Even though Gild Hall was far from the bar I needed to be at on a Saturday night, the staff was eager to get me and my friends cabs. The room was clean and spacious for everyone considering it is NYC. The only thing is, the bathroom door is glass which I guess was not thought out so well. Other than that, for a quick night in the city, the hotel was great. I would definitely go back.

There is plenty of street parking on the streets around the hotel if you are staying on a weekend. Weekend street parking is free near the hotel. Do not pay for parking.
