NYC week-end
Large room in good location. Bed very uncomfortable. Decor tired and in need of major revision. Poor attention to detail. Shower was excellent flow such that the bathroom door was rotton from water damage! Breakfast buffet was limited and poor value. Felt pressured by staff for excessive tip. Would not recommend or return.

Good Value, Excellent Locations
My wife and I wanted to spend a weekend in New York that was within walking distance to Times Square. This hotel was a perfect spot --- close enough to the theatre district, and well situated to visit other NYC atractions. The hotel was clean, the staff was very helpful and courteous, and they had our rooms ready before the official check-in time. Elevators were a little small and slow considering it had to servcie 45 floors worth of rooms. We spent some time waiting for the elevator, and in some cases it arrived full of people. The free continental breakfast saved us at least $25/day. Overall, it's a really good value.

Honeymoon in New York
Excellent location and large room. Breakfast was included although they operate a confusing system where you get a bill that you dont pay (apart from tips of course). Hotel room looked a bit old fashioned and had seen better days but still was very acceptable. Watch the taxi if going to airport, i asked for a yellow cab but got a limo and was told same price until i got to JFK!

Worst hotel I've ever been at !!!
First off, let me say the location of this hotel is great. Right in the middle of Manhatten. The hotel itself need some great attention. The first room I was in had the window seal hanging out of it, leting the street noise in all night. The bathroom tissue roller was coming off the wall. The handle to the closet was loose. The headboard light switches were both different. And the cherry of the room, the shower stream was the size of a pencil lead. Finally I brought this to the management. The manager I delt with was GREAT. She appoligised for the state of the room and moved me and my wife to a new room. In this room once again the toilet paper roller came off the wall in my hand. The shower was cold, though the sink in the bathroom was hot as can be. The bathroom door wouldn"t latch. The bathroom door handle was loose enough to see the mechanism of the knob, and the toilet itself kept backing up. My wife and I went to dinner in the resteraunt in the lobby, there my wife got a dirty wine glass. The meal I ordered was brought to me wrong. I brought this all to the attention of the manager on duty. Where he told me that I got a great room at a great rate. I explained to him, I never asked to be upgraded! He than asked me "What do you want me to do about it". In a condesending tone. All i wanted from these people was some recognition of the problems and an apology. Just tell me your going to tend to the issue. I will tell everyone I know not to use this hotel!!!

Short walk from hotel
Everything is right near you in this city. Just a short walk to find a subway or a pizza joint or fine dinning or a store or a show.

Flatotel has gone way down.
This stay at the Flatotel was a real disappointment. We stayed there several years ago and it was good, but this time, the room was not clean. There was mold and mildew in the shower/bath and the room was not well-maintained or clean. The staff did not appear to be organized. We ordered room service once and someone called later to ask for our credit card # over the phone. She was rude and insistent when I told her that we'd like to charge it to the room. She said we had no charge account or that it wasn't valid, despite the fact that we had pain in advance. New management must have taken over this hotel. IT SHOULD NOT BE RATED 4 STARS! a BIG disappointment and we will not stay there again.

Good Location.
Good location and close to pretty much most of the things you want to see: Metropolitan Museum, MoMa, Guggenheim, Central Park, Empire State Builiding, Time Square, 5th Ave. It is about $12.00 taxi ride to the SoHo, Meat Packing, and Chinatown districts.

overpriced for what you get
the hotel was average at best. you need to know there will be nothing exceptional about your stay here. location is good. i had someone's room service dishes in the hall for over a day. two elevators service the whole hotel....it can take awhile to get down to the lobby. rooms were ok...they have yet to update televsions to flat screens.

Great girl's getaway
A very trendy place but it's not in your face about it. Exceptionally clean space. Wonderfully large bathroom, which was fantastic for two girls who love their hot showers and soaking baths. Bed was firmer than my personal preference, but hotels usually are. My one quibble is the elevators should be bigger and perhaps a third one for the people staying at the hotel - they got a bit clogged up in the mornings. Good location, in the middle of 2 busy avenues but the street itself wasn't crazy. I would stay here again.

The Russian Tea Room is just a few blocks away and it's great for fine dining with a pre and post theater prixe fixe menu in addition to their regular delicious offerings.

Great room, great view!
I ended up with a terrific room--or should I say suite! It was definitely more room than I needed, but I really liked it. The bed was great and the view was fantastic! Everything I needed was in within walking distance--even a grocery store.

Everything you need or want is within a few blocks--Times Square, Radio City Music Hall (I could see the marquee from my room on the 38th floor), Rockafeller Center (great subway connection) and Fifth Avenue. Central Park is an easy walk away, too.
