visiting for a week
Hotel great location near subways lines which is a plus ! 2 blocks away from Rockefellar plaza, lots of things in walking distance . Rooms very large for NY standards well the room i had. overall a good stay i would go back for sure .

Great Place to Stay!
The Flatotel was clean, had pleasant decor, and the staff was very professional and helpful. The room I had was a standard queen room. By standard I mean it was a noermal size hotel room with plenty of space to get around. Many hotels in NYC have postage size rooms that don't have any space to move around. It could not have been located in any better place. It was located close to so many attractions. Most were in walking distance. What came as a surprise to me was that upon check-in I was given coupons for a complimentary Continental breakfast for each day of my stay. In NYC that is a bonus. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to anyone visiting NYC.

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
I don't know whether you would consider it a short walk but the NY Water Taxi was a great bargain for anyone sight seeing. If I were with my kids I would take a Taxi or bus. For $26 dollars you get a hop on hop off boat ride to great sight seeing locations and if you upgrade for $14 more you get entry into the Intrepid Museum.

Good Location.
Good location and close to pretty much most of the things you want to see: Metropolitan Museum, MoMa, Guggenheim, Central Park, Empire State Builiding, Time Square, 5th Ave. It is about $12.00 taxi ride to the SoHo, Meat Packing, and Chinatown districts.

Time for revamp
I was happy to be in this good location but this hotel needs a revamp. A shower that drizzels water is annoying and seeing clip toe nails in the carpet and waiting forever for a lift will have me looking at another hotel next time.

Great hotel, for the location and value.
The room was a good size and the housekeeping was excellent. The complimentary continental breakfast could of been much better, but it was free. I really enjoyed my stay and I will recommend the hotel to anybody. The only problem was the elevator was slow at times.

I would not recomment the tkts booth in times square, the tickets are cheaper, but I had a horrible experience with them. They sold me a wrong ticket and they basically lied about the circumstances.

Good location, good value
Central mid-town location. I liked that breakfast was included. I like that they had the Financial TImes available for free. THe gym was opened til midnight.

Ok but ,,,
Great location near the park, subway and Times Sq, however the hotel is a renovation and even with the TV on in your room you can hear people talking in the hall and slamming doors. The kitchen in the room was a plus for storing drinks.

Well Rounded in all aspects
The Flatotel is a great boutique hotel. The room design and the maximized space allows a customer to enjoy several non-standard amenities as a refrigerator and microwave. The location is perfect for Times Square viewing at New Years Eve - block and half to see the ball drop and a quick amount of time to return. Staff are extremely friendly. Continental breakfast is a feast and a great value.

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
5th avenue is two blocks away for great shopping. Restaurants are in abundance no matter which direction you decide to go. Broadway shows are about a 10 minute walk.
