Flatotel at Times Square

Room was much bigger then expected. Saw a couple of great shows. Good to have time alone with my wife without the kids.

Started badly when there was a street fair in front of the hotel and the street was block. Called for instructions from the car (I was a block away). After 5 "wait a minutes" and transfers, I was transferred to the bellman, who was as helpful as possible. When we finally arrive at the front desk, they were incredulous and had several non-responsive answers to the simple question, "since the fair block the road ALL DAY, wouldn't you think management would have anticipated a guests calling for assistance and have a plan?" Exasperation to say the least. Room large, lighting sparce, two separate rooms for the shower and toilet with a sink in both, a real plus, halls filthy, elevators had long waits and often full upon arrival. How this hotel got 4 stars is a mystery. And the building was far better than the attention from the staff except for housekeeping which was asked to return in a hour because we would be checking out, and then proceeded to ring the doorbell every 15 minutes thereafter.

Rooms VERY small, no dresser, television did not work until I called twice for assistance. Room was miniscual and with no view...I expected much more for the price I paid and will not stay here again.An order of toast and an English muffin, one cup of poor coffee and a small glass of orange juice cost $28.00!! C'mon! And that was in the restaurant, not room service!

Easy location for cultural activities

Initially requested room away from elevator in corner & confirmed this upon check in. Was sent to room immediately across from elevator with a pile of 100's of cigarette butts dumped outside on ledge. Room was dirty, lacked hangers and luggage stand which were never delivered so changed to a smaller room after an hour wait which was better located (away from elevator). AC was not working but was repaired within 6 hours. Staff extremely unfriendly with poor attitude. We've stayed there frequently over last 10 years but it has really declined. Dirty, worn, in definite need of updating. Was it recently sold?

Location is great but the hotel itself is a bit of a let down. Its been rennovated but its pretty lackluster. It has the feel of a cheap apartment building thats been converted to a hotel. Dont buy drinks in the lobby bar they are way expensive - $USD15 for a Scotch & dry/ginger! Keep looking - There are much better hotels to stay at in New York.

Elevators are very slow, but despite of that, very good !

Had only a short time in the city and the location was great for what we wanted to do. Staff were helpful and getting a late check out was no problem.

Great location, free internet, nice bathrooms. Very inconvenient in every other way.

hotel was excellent location, in time square, reasonable size room, old fittings, needing upgrade, good room service, air condition next door made it too noisy to sleep.
