The hotel was fine, and very close to the UN where I had my business meetings. But the day I left on my trip, and since then, I have found several online prices elsewhere at half what I paid!

Good location for NYC Shopping

The hotel room room was not ready when we arrived at 2:30; we were offered to have our bags held and have a late lunch. The food was very good and our room was ready when we were thru. We were on the 7th floor and did not have a street view; we decided to keep the room anyway as it looked perfect. Bathroom was spotless and welcoming. We did order room service one night and it was very prompt. The only negative item is that I had asked the clerk at the front desk for hotel guide which is usually in any hotel room that describes the hotel services as well as other local places of business. I did mention that to the hotel clerk and they made me a copy of the menu for room service. He said that he would have it sent up to our room but it never came. It would have been helpful as this was our first trip to the city. We managed to find our way around but I would have to seen what information it contained. I would stay there again. They hailed a taxi as we left without any problems. Good experience for the first time in the city.,

The turkey club, french onion soup, burger were well worth the money there. We ate most of our meals there and would eat there again even if we were not spending the night in the hotel.

Great Stay!

The staff was incredibly friendly. The room was impeccable, though a little smaller than expected. The location was perfect, especially if you're looking for a central place to stay while touring, shopping and partying in Manhattan.

great place to stay if you are taking the train in to spend a couple of days in NYC, you can get cheaper, but this is located pretty central. Staff was friendly, rooms were nice (NYC sized), and the area is safe 24 hours

NYC Overnight

I was really impressed by the level of service, comfort, cleanliness and location of this hotel. The price was a good value for a hotel in its' class. I stayed over on a Friday night while in town to attend a concert. Great location as it is adjacent to Grand Central Terminal. Looking forward to a return visit!

Decent location, nice staff

Enjoyed my overall stay at the Fitzpatrick Grand Central. Check in was at 3 but we arrived earlier hoping for early check in. After speaking with the front desk we were told there were no rooms ready but they would hold on to our bags so we wouldn't have to travel around the city with luggage. This is a pretty standard thing that most hotels do but they were very nice about it. We came back a little after 5 to check in and were told that they had to get an update from housekeeping as to whether or not our room was ready. This was unexpected considering we were there 2 hours after check in! Luckily for us (and them) there was a room ready, otherwise they would have gotten an earful. Decent location, practically next to Grand Central Terminal and plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. We took the Shuttle (S) subway train into Times Square...it was 1 stop away and was a less than 5 minute ride. We ate dinner at the hotel restaurant, Wheel Tapper. The food was good, nothing to write home about but better than average. It was more expensive than what I would have liked but given that it is NYC and a hotel restaurant not a bad deal. The concierge at the front desk was more than helpful and very accommodating. I hope they are paid well because they are really the face of the hotel and the most memorable part of the Fitzpatrick experience for me. The room was actually a good size which was a surprise to me because of all the reviews I had read online about NYC hotels. Although, I must say that we suspected we were in a handicapped room because of a double peep hole on the door, so I'm not sure what the other rooms would be like. Comfortable bed, big bathroom, very clean. I also checked the bed for bed bugs and found no evidence of an infestation! Overall, I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to friends and the Orbitz community.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

Not sure how often this happens but the Sunday we were there, there was a outdoor shopping market that popped up over night right outside the hotel with plenty of interesting items and lots of food vendors.

Not Worth the Distance From It All

I travel to NYC often and sometimes prefer a hotel location in midtown to get away from all of the hustle and bustle, especially during holidays. Someone suggested the Fitzpatrick and I thought the rate reasonable and had read some positive reviews. My daughter and I checked-in close to 4:30 p.m. The front desk reception was cool at most. The concierge was not at his/her desk so I inquired about him/her to let the front desk know I was interested in speaking with the concierge to assist with our trip planning. When we left to go out, the concierge was still not at his/her desk. Seeing that there would be no follow up from the front desk, I ultimately did my own planning. Further, the valet did not assist my daughter and I upon arrival (or departure), so we fended for ourselves. I actually did not know the hotel employed a valet until at our departure we saw him assisting newly arrived guests at the elevator. The room itself was decent. We entered the room and the bed was right at center of the room. It was somewhat small like an efficiency apartment, but it was nice enough. We had a room with a view of the top a shorter business' roof and the heating units. Needless to say, we kept the blinds closed as there was no sunlight from where our room was. The hotel did not provide any modern amenities like Wi-Fi, a pool, microwave access nor a mini-bar in the room. As if they cool reception and lack of services from the valet and concierge were not enough--room service woke us up with a knock on the door to ask implore as to the time we would be checking out. I called the front desk to inform them of my check out time but before we could get out the room (earlier than we notified them of), room service was right at the door when we opened it. It goes without saying that I doubt I'd stay again. I think I would have received better service at one of the less costly chains.

Loved it.

I stayed for only one night and would definitely consider staying again. The room was charming and very clean. And the bed was incredibly comfortable. The only downside was the view - which was of brick walls... but it's New York, and that's how it is sometimes. The room was cozy, clean and comfortable. And the staff very polite and accommodating.
