NYC in a long weekend
We arrived from the airport at 9 a.m. They allowed us to check in early. When we experienced a plumbing problem the second day, they fixed it IMMEDIATELY! The front desk as well as maintenance and cleaning ladies were all extremely helpful answering all our "I've never been to NYC" questions without making us feel stupid. Yes, the rooms are very small but all we did was sleep so it wasn't a problem!

tiny room in central location
The location is great, close to subway, restaurants and not far from Times Sq. The room however was tiny.. practically just the twin bed. It was a summer night and we slept with window open as we don't like AC, (even if we did, it makes noise)... As the hotel is on the corner of very busy 8th avenue expect to be disturbed by the city noise all night. Traffic, ambulances, people, blaring air conditioners all around... not a quite place at all. The hotel was clean and the staff helpful. Have been to NYC countless times, wouldn't stay here again. Good location though.

High speed internet was a low
High speed internet was a low speed internet, breakfast could be called with that name only if you're desperate, service was very bad. They even charged to store 2 bags for few hours. Beside that, rooms are very small. The only good thing here is the location!

Fantastic location for the price
We stayed at the Econolodge for a short late-week getaway. Overall, we were very pleased with the hotel. It was a wonderful location a little over a block away from the heart of Times Square (at the TKTS booth). Like any other hotel room in NYC, the room was small but very clean. This was our 4th trip to NYC so we were vaguely familiar w/ the city. Because of the great location to the places we wanted to go, we were able to walk EVERYWHERE! We went as far as Macy's and Madison Square Garden, to Rockefeller Center, to the Ed Sullivan Theater. We attended a broadway show that was practically in our "back yard". Needless to say, we were very pleased with our stay here. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to NYC.

Sightseeing tip:
Short walk from hotel
Short walk to Times Square (about 1 1/2 blocks away). Also, right across the street from the hotel was a cafe (serving pizza, sandwiches, salads, etc). It was a great place to catch lunch or a late nite snack. (Try the chicken parmesan sandwich!!!)

No atmosphere, cramped quarters
Previous stays at the Edison and the Marriott Marquis were obviously more upbeat but it was close to Times Square and only needed to stay one night - so it was OK.
