Great place to stay near NYC attractions
We stayed at The Eastgate Tower Hotel rather than stay at another hotel nearby that would have cost $300 more for our three-day stay, and could not have been happier. The room we chose was like a small apartment: There was a spacious living room, a dining room, a kitchen, a bath and a bedroom. The room was very clean, the beds were super comfortable, and the living room space made it nice to unwind after a long day of conferences (for me) and sightseeing (for my husband) before going out for the evening. The staff are truly excellent. Would highly recommend!

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
If you're looking for a place to eat on Times Square, keep walking past all the attractions; you'll find a better selection of restaurants (and they all will cost at least $100 for two people, no matter what you plan to eat, so be prepared for that).

Need an apartment?
The Eastgate Tower is the place to stay if you want that "lived in" vibe. The room we had on the 14th floor was huge; the kitchen complete with stove, microwave and dishes along with the walk-in closet welcomed us back daily after our NYC excursions. If you are looking for comfort, at a great price, in a very convenient location, this is the place for you!

Short walk from hotel
Check out the rush tickets for shows. We paid $20 each for front row seats for Avenue Q (Off Broadway.)

OK for Midtown
The Eastgate Tower is a good value in a central, Midtown location. However, it does need to get cleaned up in general to make this a great place to stay.

Best way to save money in New York city is to walk. Be prepared to enjoy the walk and forget about the taxis.

No wifi or safe in room
Hotel didnt have a safe in the room or wifi which was annoying. But rooms were very spacious and clean. Location is close to Grand Central station and metro.

Great location but that's about it...
This is in a great location, central to so many things. It's a quaint neighborhood, safe to walk around at night. The price is reasonable for Manhattan. The hotel itself is dated, the rooms although clean look a little worse for wear with holes in the rugs and old furniture. There was no comforter on the bed, only two plain sheets enveloping a fleece blanket. The room was HOT, despite turning the heat completey off and opening the windows we were quickly dehydrated after two nights.

Could not have been more pleased.
This hotel (former apartments} is a terrific bargain. Large studio room with two queen beds and sleeper sofa and kitchen. Great mid-town location. Wonderful and attentive staff. Would book there again.
