Excellent location, worth the price

We took a rest, slept while we were in the hotel. Washbowl drainage was found to be clogged that made a bad impression. The bed was unbelievably comfortable. Bathrobes were missing.

It was ok

There was nothing extraordinary about this hotel. It served its purpose. A place to sleep. The elevators rattle something fierce. We had a problem with the air conditioning which was dealt with very promptly. But we could see the filter was totally clogged. Really gross. No follow up call to make sure everything was ok.

Broken heat

The hotel staff was very slow to attend us upon arrival. I understand that two people for six waiting to check-in is not a good ratio, but maybe it all would have been smoother and faster if the concierge kindly asked the guest he was attending to find a restaurant by herslef at the computer located 8feet away from the check-in desk. The room was a nice size, however, the heat was acting up. There are no thermostats to adjust the heat in the room, so count on being cold and at some point waking up sweating. The bathroom was OK, it was clean. Not sure about the soapdish which was a petridish that suctioned to the soap once used and removal required my long nails and some elbow grease. The shower temperature kept changing from cold to hot which made it impossible to enjoy the top to bottom marble tiles. Staff was informed about that but I doubt that anything was done. The towels were soft, but they only give you 3pillows. The bed was not comfortable, one of those old ones where the springs feel funky on your back when you lay down. One more thing: some heavy construction was going on in 2nearby rooms and the smell of heated copper, and the noise of hammers only stopped at 6PM, when I personally walked up to the workers and asked them when they would finally finish the work for the day. Was it worth it? For the location, yes. For anythin else...nope

Last Minute New Years Stay

Stylish mid-priced hotel in Midtown, suited all basic needs. Beds and pillows seemed a little old and worn compared to say an updated Holiday Inn or one of Marriott's budget hotel chains. The customer service was lacking and I do not think it was because of the holiday some front desk agents were very kind and helpful and others could care less or barely acknowledged you. There was no porter to help unload things from the car and onto a bell cart. I did that myself and brought all of my own luggage up to the room (I had a fair amount). Overall though, this being a mid-priced hotel in NY, the stay was just fine, nothing remarkable.

first time to nyc!

Staff was extremely nice and helpful and location was perfect! Room itself was small, bed was hard and missing a fitted sheet, and the tv hardly worked.

Benjamin's Steakhouse is one of the finest in the city. Stop in for a NY Strip.

Basic not boutique hotel in a great location.

Great location, but no real value for money. Decor somewhat tired. Room very basic. Its the old Chemists Club building and though it tries to incorporate little quaintnesses of a pharmacy, it lacks character. Facilities very basic. More of a business hotel where all you need is a well situated room. Great steakhouse in the hotel.

Cool Hotel Near Queens

This hotel worked out well because I had a wedding to attend in Queens. Only 15 minutes away by car but in a great location of Manhattan. I was near all the shopping of 5th Avenue, 3rd Avenue, Madison and Lexington. Times Square was a quick walk and there was a Starbucks right by the hotel. Valet parking was $45 but there are parking garages next door for cheaper. However, we check-in on a Saturday night, so after the wedding, we found street parking and it was free the next day. The staff was nice and courteous, check-out was quick and easy! Beautiful hotel with great amentities and just the right price. The best part is the location because you are in the heart of Manhattan.

Spacious room, nice staff, but...

Friendly and helpful staff, spacious rooms with high ceilings, and complementary Internet access made this a pleasant stay for us. The hotel has an interesting history a nice motif, and lots of good ideas, but falls short on the details, though most of the details didn't affect us much. The bathroom was large, but the marble bathroom floor was dangerously slippery, both when dry and wet. The phones didn't work (had cell), the smoke alarm was chirping (they removed it), the iron didn't work, knobs on furniture were loose, only one bar of soap (we could deal), only two pillows (they provided more on request), one towel hanger missing.
