The Dylan Hotel for The Perfect Midtown Manhattan Hotel Location Located in the city's vibrant core in midtown Manhattan, the best of New York City is just outside our front door. We're only a short walk from Grand Central Station, Times Square, Central Park, Rockefeller Center, Empire State, Fifth Avenue Shopping and the great restaurants of Manhattan. Only a few minutes away from New York's Jacob Javits Convention Center Surrounded by excitement. Cradled in comfort. That's what a stay at the Dylan Hotel in New York City is all about.
Dylan's interiors, by Jeffrey Beers, mark a deliberate departure from both the too stark and overly hip designs prevalent in the high-end boutique market, all in the 107 rooms of the hotel. Beers has created a timeless look for the property that redefines opulence for a new age while preserving the landmark-quality architecture of the 1903 Beaux-Arts structure.
The hotel features rich tones like amethyst, jade, emerald, opal and amber. Fabrics are soft and luxurious. The grandeur of the Dylan's public areas is evident from the moment one passes through the entryway.

Right next to Grand Central Station

This hotel was undergoing renovations when we visited so I think it is likely even more worth a visit after they're done. Overall, the location couldn't be beat and the staff was kind. The room itself did have some stains and the windows looked straight into a illuminated office building, even during the weekend, but this to be expected from anything but a 5-star property in NYC.

Grand Central station is less than two blocks away. You can hop on a subway from here and get to just about anywhere in the city. So much cheaper than cabs.

Poor Experience for NYC

Standard Double Room was adequate size, but no personal thermostat (only central heat/air for entire bulding), no help from front desk staff, TV quality is extremely poor, bathroom amenities need vast improvement, no outlets visible for power, both room phones did not work (couldnt even call front desk), free Wi-fi was a joke. Not worth price at all

It was ok

There was nothing extraordinary about this hotel. It served its purpose. A place to sleep. The elevators rattle something fierce. We had a problem with the air conditioning which was dealt with very promptly. But we could see the filter was totally clogged. Really gross. No follow up call to make sure everything was ok.

Room 307 is like a 747 in your ear

Was assigned a room right in front of a exhaust or intake vent or some form of air system. Sounded like when you are riding along in a car with your windows only midway down.. Thumping of air. Disappointing.

Great location

The staff here was exceptionally helpful. Requests were answered promptly and the front desk staff was very knowledgable about the area. The location is the best - close to everything! The NYC Library and Bryant Park are just a few blocks away; a few more blocks and you have Times Square...Grand Central Station and really excellent restaurants are all around. Like any New York City hotel, the closet space was almost none existent, so be prepared to find a way to keep your clothing un wrinkled or use the dresser.

Good Value

Rooms were larger than the typical NYC hotel room. Beds were comfy. Nice restaurant/bar in lobby. Bathrooms were a little small but overall was a good value. One block from Grand Central Station which was a good location for us.

Excellent, modestly-priced mid-town hotel

Small but well laid-out room - well maintained, with an excellent bathroom/shower. For our overnight stay (we were in NY for a wedding), this was a fine stopover. Staff was attentive and always courteous. Avoid breakfast here, though - it is an expensive afterthought on the hotel's part - indifferent, slow service.

Average Room - could have used some work

Hotel was in a nice location. It was a walkable distance from main tourist attractions around time square. Staff werent very personable. Acted like they were too busy to make eye contact and too busy for you in general... even though no other guests were in line or around. Room was average. Not very large and the cabinetry could use some updating - ours looked scuffed and used. Bathroom was nice - made out of marble. Shower was clogged and over flowed - also very small. Had a hot tub - very pretty. We stayed for one night on a Saturday in February and paid $145 for the night.

Short Stay to NYC

Good hotel, but there was some major mix up with the staff on check in and it caused a massive hold on the CC. They claimed it was a computer glitch, but I think is was human error. It took way to long to check in. When I asked about the hold issue, they threw up their hands as if there was nothing to do. I'm sure they could have made it happen. So, a sour taste to start. And do not have breakfast at the Benjamin next door - very expensive and okay quality. But overall a nice place.

Good spot in the city

Hotel has a great location in NYC, on 41st near Madison, right by Grand Central. The rooms are modernly decorated, and look nice on the inside. Not much of a view outside, but what do you expect in the city? Also, there is no parking on the block, and the closest garages are $50 a day.
