Hip Hood, Invisible Staff
It felt like it's someone's Dream Apartment that needed a little TLC. The entry looked scary: dirty unwashed stairs and and dirty carpet. The bed had a sheet and a light fuzzy blanket that smelled "funny". Pillows needed cases not just buttoned covers. The box spring was covered in plastic. Towels were not fluffy and had a similar funny smell. It had 2 cracked tiles near the entrance. The tv worked only on the 1st 2 nights and needed instructions on how to use the remote control: It was useless for the next 3 nights. I met 2 ladies on my 1st evening and was told that they were going to give me some paperwork that never happened. I was locked out on my 3rd night, because they thought I had already checked out. (I was booked for 2 more nights after that) So, I had to go up and down the 5 flights of stairs several times where the intercom is because they gave me the wrong code. I just finished walking many miles that day so being confronted by this inefficiency was exhausting. I rented this place in spite of the bad reviews but I was there to walk all over New York City so I just needed a place to crash and keep my stuff safe. At the end of a very exciting and exhausting day, all I wanted was a comfortable bed, which I had, but it just smelled funny. As much as I liked the neighborhood, I wouldn't come back here.

Horrible Horrible customer service AND STAFF
I can't even begin to talk about the staff and horrible customer service. So upon arrival to the hotel I get there bags in hand to find out that they some how messed up my reservation and had me booked at the UN Central hotel. They had no available rooms at Dream and mind you I booked this hotel months in advance. So the guy on the intercom (because there is no front desk) promises me that they would reimburse my taxi ride from Lower Eastside to Midtown if I agreed to go to their other property at UN central. I was tired so I agreed got there and the next morning NO ONE reimbursed me. I called the guy on the buzzer and a new worker tells me that only management can reimburse and there was no management who worked on the weekends. Which is completely ridiculous in the hospitality industry when most people travel on weekends. Needless to say I didn't stay at this hotel because they messed up my reservation and I never got any money back for any of my inconvenience because there is no one to contact. The shower never got hot in my 2 night stay. STAY here at your own risk but I'm telling you the there's an emphasis on the word "RISK".

Rough Value
This was a great value for our stay for four nights in NYC. If you are looking for the comforts of a $200+ per night hotel, this may not be for you. My recommendation is that you request a non-street side room. The window's are not near sound reducing. Also, there is no wi-fi available at this location only a plug-in. It is not even a mediocre looking studio apt, but for the price, it was manageable. The picture in the ad is not near what I received room-wise @ Dream Apt. I recommend the website accurately represent the rooms available.

No so dreamy
In short, was put on the 5th floor of this 5 floor walk-up. One towel provided for two people for 3 days, the handle on the water valve in the shower was broken off not allowing for temp control, the windows did not completly close allowing excessive noise from street level in all night. Minimal bed linens provided. Other than that, it was great. The location is great for a lower east side stay and close to the F/J lines. It is cheap, but you do get what you pay for in this case.

Would go again.
The service was a little under par but the overall experience was reasonable. The hotel apartment are nestled in an area that has many quaint bars, acres and restaurants with young spirits.

Good for what it is
Having read the reviews, I knew what I was getting into, so I wasn't that surprised by the fact that this is an apartment building, not a true hotel. It has no signage indicating you have arrived, check-in consists of buzzing someone off-site, you get a code to punch in to enter your room and a key (that didn't work) to get into the front door. Having said that, I was traveling alone and just needed a place to sleep. it served that need fine. If you just need a place to stay and aren't too concerned with the looks and overall comfort or cleanliness of your place, then you'll be fine here.
