Excellent stay, comfortable room

We were there for New Years Eve 2009 and New Years Day 2010. Location was excellent, between Times Square and Central Park and an easy walk to lots of other major attractions. The bed was certainly one of the most comfortable I've ever had in a hotel, and in my time I've been in lots of hotels all over the world. The shower was superb. We loved the blue light under the bed (it's actually one of those type "BL" fluorescent lights that are blue/white but have a lot of UV as well); it cast a gentle light on the lower foot or so of the walls but not enough to be annoying (and you can turn it off if you don't like it). The staff was very nice and helpful. We ate dinner at the Serafina restaurant and were very pleased - food was excellent, portions were generous but not outrageous, and it was reasonably priced, especially for a hotel restaurant. We were on the 4th floor facing Broadway. Even though it was New Years Eve and the partying outside went on 'til the wee hours, the windows and blinds did a good job filtering the noise and it didn't interfere with our sleep (in fact it was kind of amusing to be able to faintly hear the goings-on at times). Two downsides which may bother some but did not bother us; the room was on the small side (though ours was not one of the "deluxe" rooms) and the heater fan was a bit noisy. I'd go back again without hesitation.

Dreaming on 55th St.

Stayed at the the Dream Hotel during Christmas in New York City while visiting family there. If you will be visiting any of the attractions in the midtown area, particularly Rockefeller Center, Times Square, Central Park, Carnegie Deli (around corner) etc., you really cannot beat this location for the price and what you get. This is a boutique hotel with a small lobby. Done very tastefully with a large aquarium by the reception desk, a sitting area, restaurant, bar, and three elevators to the room floors. The room was great -- good size by NYC standards, king bed, modern furnishings, and cool neon blue lighting (that can be turned off). Decent bathroom (L'Occitane soaps and shampoos) and closet, wireless internet at a great $9.95/24 hr price. The N and the R trains are 1/2 block down 55th street, one minute walk from hotel entrance. There is also a club on the top floor -- can't comment because I didn't visit. All-in-all, I would highly recommend the Dream if you can get a price below $200.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Take the N or R subway lines to the east side or downtown. The station is right down the block from the hotel entrance on 55th street and 7th avenue.

Small rooms, but the staff was great

The Dream Hotel is a decent hotel. The rooms are mot worth the price, but what hotel in NYC really is worth the price?..none of them. Our room was small and the bed was only OK. However, the staff was very friendly and quick to respond. I give the staff very high marks from check-in to check-out.One night we got some late night pizza from around the corner at Rays. Unfortunately on the way up to the room we dropped a slice. without even asking, the concierge, [...], called the pizza shop and had them comp us a new slice. Granted, it was only a $3 slice of pizza, but it felt good to know that he was willing to extend himself for us.Also, Ava, the rooftop lounge, is a good music scene and a great place to be seen.

Weekend away

The location is great. We picked it because it is close to where our friends live. The room was small but that is what we expected for NYC. The only disappointment is that the air conditioner was very loud and there were people yelling in the hallway at 4 in the morning. This is not a place to go for a romantic weekend away but it was a decent deal.

party like a rockstar

This is a great expierience for couples how want to feel like VIP in the city...themed hotel had many attractions; including reasonably priced spa, excellent resturaunt(Sarafina), and an amazing rooftop lounge that is ULTRA chique. We didnt get to chack out the club(also part of the building) but the music always sounded amazing! Definatley desinged for a "Couples" expierience, DREAM will make you the envy of anyone on the streets....

Truly a "Dream"

Arrived Sunday afternoon by car from DC area for a meeting Monday noon. Valet parking (and didn't put in garage until 5:30 so we actually had until 5:30 the next day!) Very friendly, helpful staff. Modern, clean decor yet kept the original beaux arts feel of the building. Location perfect for theatre, sightseeing, but very quiet at night. Free happy hour drink at lobby lounge, with bartender giving local tips and info. Great rooftop lounge at night... really cool to be only 14 stories high with moon drifting thru clouds in between surrounding skyscrapers. Sunday evening was Salsa night, and it felt like front row seats to "Dancing with the Stars". Have stayed at various locations/hotels in NY, but would DEFINITELY go back to this one!!!!! Room small but well appointed, very clean and modern feel. Price was great also. Restaurant next to hotel was fabulous also. All and all made for a perfect weekend getaway.

a little pricey but great location

I felt as if the location of the hotel was great, walking distance from Timesquare as well as major NY attractions including Empire state building, FAO swartz, and Central park, yet the rooms were a little small for the price paid. on the way home we ended stopping at a little hotel in PA which was half the price and twice the room. The Blue neon lights was fun for the first 20 min but then got annoying and eventually were shut off. Room was very clean, and location was a safe one. One little thing that i didnt know was that you needed to pay for parking which was an unexpected suprise. The parking Garage is like 4 blocks away and 20 bucks a day, if ya wanna walk it or ya can pay for Valet for an additional 50 Bucks a day
