Great location
Hotel is very nice and clean. Hotel is located near touristic places. The price of the room is great. Did not use the facilities (gym, business room etc.., so cannot comment on them) The room is a bit small, but we were in the hotel just to sleep and shower. Would recommend to others. Will try to book a room there next time I go to New York City. We checked in early ( the room was ready). We were able to keep our bags in the hotel after checkout time. It made it easier to walk around and do last minute shopping.

Used and Abused--The Story of Doubletree
When I pulled back the sheets there was a crunchy j_zz rag in there. Just a dirty room in general. Yucky.

So impressed!
I was in NYC for a last-minute audition trip, and didn't feel like crashing on a friend's couch was going to cut it. I got the room for a very reasonable price, considering location, normal rate, etc. The rooms looked brand new. The service was impeccable. The hotel restaurant was convenient and excellent. There was never a noise issue (any more than any other hotel...slamming doors, loud people that forget they aren't alone in the universe), and the desk staff were friendly and very helpful. It was also very close to the subway, and taxis were constantly lurking.

Short walk from hotel
Whatever you enjoy, there was plenty of nightlife available both north and south of the hotel. Chelsea, loaded with great little restaurants, fun shopping, and pubs, bars, etc. is to the south. To the north, you have the more touristy things, and 42 St. is an easy walk.

The Doubletree Experience
The hotel was clean, the elevators were extremely slow and crowded. We were on the 9th floor and had to wait for 2 elevators, sometimes 3 to come by before we could get in to go upstairs. We usually just walked down the 9 flights to get out. The location was ok but a long walk to Rockefeller Center. The rooms are tiny, but for the price, they were clean and we didn't spend much time there anyway.

Hokie in NYC
Leaning tower of Doubletree?
Close to Macy's (4 blocks) and Times Square (9 blocks), even walking with our three-year old. Easy access to the Subway (one block) headed to financial district or upper west side. Very attentive staff, especially when we were given a handicapped room (no tub in the bathroom) and the water leaked out of the shower profusely (was the whole building leaning so the water went into the bathroom and into the room and not down the drain???). We used towels to buffer the water back into the shower basin and called for extra towels. Front desk personnel were very friendly and got the request taken care of quickly from housekeeping. Elevator issue is pretty bad at rush hour...think about requesting a lower floor room and taking the stairs.
