Great affordable place for a weekend stay in NYC
Aside from the elevator being terrible, this hotel is great. Compared to other prices around the city, it's a great value + rooms have their own bathrooms (which is a plus in NYC). Right next to a subway stop, and right next to a 24-hr convenience store. Friendly staff. Would definitely stay there again.

Great base of operations for New York visit
I have stayed three times at the Cosmopolitan. It is within blocks of: Battery Park City, City Hall, World Trade Center, Wall Street, Ferries, irish Hunger Memorial, and on and on. The subway ( the A as well as 1,2,3) are within steps of the hotel door! Staff is unfailingly polite, helpful and welcoming. I have met people from all over Europe in the elevator (said elevator might be a weak point, but what do you expect in the oldest continuously operated hotel?) A real bargain.

Business trip
At the reception desk, at the check in, we were told that our room that was reserved got flooded, plus few other rooms as well. Barbara, did excellent job communicating between us and hotel manager, Josh, who was able to find us a room in another hotel. Unfortunately that hotel was on the oposite end of Manhattan. Hotel Cosmopolitan picked up our cab fare and negotiated same rate at Radio City Apartments. Following morning, Barbara called and notified that they found a room for us at Cosmopolitan Hotel. We returned, because this hotel was more convienently located where we needed to be. Graet staff, very professional

Not bad.
Great location. Hotel is older and the rooms are a bit smaller...but if location is what you want this is a great spot.

Outstanding value, great location
We chose the Cosmopolitan from previous reviews, never having visited NY before, and crossed our fingers that it would be OK. We had no need to worry, it exceeded our expectations in all areas. Spotlessy clean, comfortable, and friendly helpful staff. The location is great, only a short walk from the financial district, little Italy and Chinatown nearby. Subway station outside. Great cafe next door for breakfast, also a deli for supplies. Feels like we found a gem

The good, the bad, and the really ugly
The staff was amazing gentle, location is great. But... Noise of the air-con is simply umbereable. Even with ear-plugs, I could not sleep. I will only recomend the hotel (indeed) in winter time, when no air-con is needed.

You get what you pay for
The first room we checked into was a decent size but had a very foul odor. We couldn't tolerate the smell, our throats were hurting and it gave us a headache. We let the staff know and they could have cared less. They put us into a different room that hadn't been renovated in years and it was smaller than my closet at home. Still had to pay the same price. The sheets were like razor blades. The ONLY positive was the hotels location in Tribeca. You get what you pay for in life. That's why this hotel is so inexpensive compared to any others in NYC.

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
Little Italy, Soho, and West Village were all close and easy to walk to. Mr. Chow Restaurant and Nobu were right around the corner.
