The maid service was not what we expected
We were surprise at the maid service. We were gone most of the day and the maid service would come around in the late afternoon and ask if we needed service. The answer was always no as we were preparing to go out for the eveing. Therefore, our room did not get cleaned the whole time we were there.

Fine for New York City, Close to Convention Center
Although this hotel isn't much to look at, for a New York City business stay, it's fine, especially if you're going to the Javits Center. It's only a three or four block walk to the Center, so you don't have to scavenge for a taxi or trot down to one of the Times Square pick-up centers for your convention's shuttle bus. Close to Penn Station, too, so you can walk to the hotel in decent weather. That said, the neighborhood has little else going for it. You have to walk a few blocks to find a good selection of places to eat, and, of course, it's quite a distance from Times Square and the other action. Staff at the hotel was very friendly and helpful. Rooms are small and a little worn, typical of value-priced NYC accommodations, but the hotel is compact, with only four rooms on each of the 14 floors. My 14th floor room was very quiet, with no street noise. Saturday morning breakfast was varied and filling, with omelettes, sausage, toast, pastries, and lots of beverages. I did not sample the weekday breakfast, which I think is Continental-style. All in all, a decent chain hotel good for business trips to Javits conventions. I wouldn't recommend for families on vacation, however.

Uncle Jack's Steakhouse, close by at 440 9th Avenue, is superb. I went twice. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and a huge strip steak will cost you only $45.

How is is possible
I arrived at my hotel to be told that there was a "problem" on the floor where my reserved room was. They were grascious and gave me cab fare and found me another room elsewhere. Not a big deal until I arrived at the hotel where I found it just barely larger than a closet and a tiny bed. I'm not a complainer by any means but for the price I paid [...] I felt slighted.

Not A Good Place To Stay
Very dirty. The bedspread was stained, the bathroom had not been fully cleaned and the carpeting felt like hemp rope. They stocked the bath for one when there were two of us; they had no extra blankets with only one on the king sized bed (and it wasn't even a king blanket!). For the money, it was not a bargain at all. I would add, though, that the bed was confortable, the room bed bug free, and the staff cordial. But I will never stay there again.

HORRIBLE
Room faced front of street and was so bright from outside light the room never became dark and became hard to sleep. Very small. Had Direct TV with very limited channels and reception. No national stations nbc, cbs, abc,or cnn. Stale and needs updating. Very poor price value relation.
