Priced right, nice staff

This is not a luxury hotel with a wide list of amenities. It is an affordable small hotel (an old building that was rehabbed into a hotel) on the Lower east Side near SoHo, which is where we wanted to stay. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. Let me repeat that. They were extremely nice. Also, they have a parking deal a few blocks from hotel that is very reasonable for NYC.

Gem in Lower East Side

Excellent stay at the Blue Moon Hotel! From the gracious hospitality and helpfulness of the wonderful staff to the warm bed-and-breakfast like atmosphere, this accommodation is a real find! In particular, for visitors seeking to explore the fascinating neighborhoods in the Lower East Side as well as the historic sites of downtown Manhattan and Battery Park, this is an ideal location from which to embark. The thoughtful extra touches of a NY-style breakfast to a glass of wine in the afternoon further enhance the overall delightful guest experience. Looking forward to returning to Blue Moon!!

Appealingly Funky

Cozy hotel in Chinatown/LowerEast Side. Allowing for New York's absurd prices, it can be a pretty good value. Our only real complaint was the lack of lighting in the room: there was one dim lamp and glaring overhead spots -- two people couldn't read in bed. Fix that and you've got something going on!

Blue Moon hotel, terrible

Virtually nothing worked in my room, TV, A?C, Fridge, hot water, all needed service. The room was filthy, bathroom disgusting. One person works there and knows nothing. This is a dive and should not be on your list ever.

Charming hotel in a great location in lower Manhattan

Clean and comfy, pleasant staff, nice continental breakfast. Very convenient to the Tenement Museum across the street. Reasonable parking in a garage a short distance away. Within walking distance of Little Italy and parts of Chinatown. Several restaurants nearby. Enjoyed our stay, would go back again when visiting lower Manhattan..

Not usual boutique hotel

We would not stay here again. While I understand That this is a restored tenement , I expected it More based on the website photos. It was clean But honestly it was a little shabby and the rooms Are short on amenities.

Summer weekend fun

The Blue Moon was absolutely perfect for our weekend get away in July 2013. It is quirky with character and suits its neighborhood well. The lower east side is not for everyone but if it is your kind of scene, then the Blue Moon will keep you happy. The staff could not have been more obliging, the room - Paul Muni - was spacious, bathroom clean, water hot and pressure good, A/C worked well, The value could not have been better. We will be back. Thank you Blue Moon for making us feel so welcome!

"Regular" Rooms are only "Regular"

The very expensive rooms are nice. Choose somewhere else at the lower end. We did enjoy staying in the Lower East Side, with lots of fun shopping and a vibrant bar/restaurant scene within easy walking distance -- Little Italy, China Town, Soho, Tribeca... The room was cheap (by NYC standards), with very ordinary furnishings and no real view to speak of out the window. Seemed a bit overpriced for that. Comfortable in that Motel 6 sort of way. All the pictures on the website are of the higher end rooms with balconies and terraces, more than double the price of our room.

A really NYC neighborhood. Yeah, they all are, but this one had the feel of one where real New Yorkers (and not so wealthy ones) actually live. Yet safe and fun to visit!

The Neighborhood's Jumping

This hotel had a great location for anyone interested in easy walking to Lower East Side, Chinatown, Little Italy and SOHO. we needed two beds, hard to find in NYC, but the room was spacious and could actually accommodate a family of four. The continental breakfast and Sunday papers were great to have. But this neighborhood is a bit wild on Friday and Saturday nights - expect loud noise to wake you on the weekend. would go again if I wanted this location.
