A very pleasant surprise
I chose this hotel because of its proximity to a hospital. Although located near the FDR Drive and the 59th Street Bridge, the Bentley was quiet--mostly because the heater was on the whole time. The staff was great, the room was spacious, continental breakfast was reasonable (in the "rooftop restaurant"), and I also found restaurants and places to shop in the area. I would stay there again if I need to be in that part of the East Side.

Fine Choice
The Bentley Hotel is a fine choice for Manhattan. It is close enough to Midtown to give easy access to that area, yet far enough way to make things quiet and restful.

no restaurant, cold room, dirty
we had worst experience ever the room was cold and dirty it was our 34 annaversary and wanted to stay in and wanted to enjoy the rooftop restaurant but it was not open to us this particular day. we had to change plans and drive somewhere to eat which meant we had to take our car out of the garage and pay again to put car back in. THE WORST

Good if on a budget.....
The hotel is nice, however, I was there for five nights and received bar soap and a washcloth once during my entire stay. The rooftop restaurant was closed on Friday and Saturday nights for a private party, so room service was unavailable, as well as dining for hotel guests! Walls are thin..I was kept awake by my noisy neighbors and the loud music from the private party. Hotel staff was friendly. Don't think I will stay here again. Too many negatives.

Ups and downs
The best about this hotel was the view from top floor restaurant, but breakfast was lacking. No warm meats or eggs. No freshly baked breads, very basic breakfast for $13.00. Air conditioner in room very noisy, though otherwise room was comfortable, roomy and quite. Worst about this hotel is location, 5 blocks from subway, closest popular department store is also 5 blocks away.

Awesome overall experience
I was having eye surgery and the location was great for the MEETH Building. It was a very smooth 2 day stay. No problems or complaints. The price was right. The room was updated, spotless. The dining was limited but very good and reasonable. The parking was the cheapest I have seen for an overnight. I plan to stay again with my kids to see the city.

Bentley
Great view of the 59th st bridge. Good continental breakfast. Room decor very uneven, some 5 star items and some 2 star items. Overall a good value for the dollar in NYC.

Recent stay at the Bentley
The Bentley is located right next to an entrance to a major highway so if you stay -- stay on an upper floor because there isn't much sound-proofing. When it was originally decorated -- it was very funky but it is starting to look tired -- dirty baseboards, bad paint jobs, the gym only had three machines (out of 9) connected for power (the others didn't have cords)and 1 out of 3 didn't work. One out of 2 TVs in the gym had a remote. It was as if they just made a splash and then left nothing in the budget for maintenance.

No great deal
Toilet was running and wouldn't flush properly, kept having to plunge. The walls were really thin, I could hear people in the next room perfectly. Hotel seemed really run down but with a slick facelift. It was noisy, staff was a little stingy (charging me to call the garage underneat to pick up my car)but they were pretty friendly and the heating/ac unit seemed like a relic (seriously old, buttons missing, painted over).
