Very helpful

I was very pleased with the staff and the service they provided. Being a first timer to New York, the concierge was helpful in providing transportation and directions to everywhere we needed to go. We also had to call the front desk for assistance many times and was greeted and helped with a very friendly staff. It was a great experience.

I had a dining room!

When I checked in, they gave me a LARGE one bedroom suite. I had a bedroom, living room, FULL kitchen, dining room - and of course a bathroom. It was bigger than most NYC appartments. Decor was a bit dated - but the room was very clean and comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helfpul. It's nice that the health club is in the hotel - and there's no extra charge for it. Definately visit the bar at the top of the tower. Neighborhood is nice and quiet too (relatively quiet - it is NYC). Would definately stay there again.

Beautiful property needs work

This is a lovely older hotel in serious need of internal renovation. I understand that there are plans to entirely redo the rooms starting October 2007, and this is a good thing. Although the rooms are relatively large, the furnishings and fabrics are tired, worn and in some places stained. That being said, the staff was warm and friendly, although room service was a bit lacking in detail -- forgetting to pick up my breakfast order on the door even though I called to let them know I had placed it out there. Still, I would recommend this hotel. It is quiet, well-located to mid-town and the subway at 51st and Lex, and once renovated will be a good value.

Spacious room and nice view

The Beekman Tower was a great value; room big by NYC standards. Separate kitchen & sitting areas. Couch was surprisingly shabby but maybe because we had our dog with us? Check-in and door staff were great. Had to call for hair dryer as one in room didn't work - they came and replaced it within minutes. Top of the Tower restaurant has great view but we didn't eat there this time - menu looked pricey, maybe next visit. Location is not midtown Manhattan but within walking distance - 10 minutes or so for us. Cabs were easy to get.

Great city park & dog run in back of the hotel - main reason we originally found this hotel. City park (Peter Detmold Park) has access to bridge that goes out over East River - kind of neat. Nice area to walk around UN neighborhood. Good inexpensive diner across the street.

My new home when in New York

Comfortable rooms with large closets, kitchen with lots of coffee and state of the art gym. A Landmark building just a few blocks from almost any kind of restaurant and stores to stock your refrigerator It's real old New York with a wonderful staff. I really should not recommend this hotel because I might not be able to get a reservation the next time I'm in New York.

charming and very comfortable!

The Beekman is in a lovely old area of the city with much to offer... Our suite while not large was more than adequate for our short stay. The kitchen had all the conveniences we needed and the living room was large enough for us to entertain our friend while keeping the sleeping quarters closed. The Beekman is old world charm and anyone looking for a mini apartment for a short stay shall enjoy it. I would not recommend this for those with lots of luggage who truly need more space.

Sweet Suite

The Beekman Tower was a great place to stay for a long weekend in NYC. The suite had a bedroom, living room (with sofa bed), and a fully furnished kitchen. The layout offered plenty of space for 3 adults to live and sleep without getting tangled up with each other. While we did not do any cooking, we were able to keep the refrigerator stocked with beverages and snacks. The location two blocks north of the UN was quiet, offering a great place to recharge away from the hustle & bustle of Times Square. Yet the Theatre District was in walking district due west, and there was plenty of cab activity when we did not want to walk. The staff was amazingly courteous and helpful: We were able to check in early (before noon and within 10 minutes of our arrival); the bellman pre-arranged our return shuttle to the airport; and Heather at the main desk helped us find the address for a specific non-tourist location we wanted to tour. Although the 1st floor restaurant was closed for renovations, the Top of the Tower was open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with great views and good food. I highly recommend Beekman Tower, and will stay there when I return to NYC.

There is a cafe kitty-corner from the hotel--great breakfast spot. Also, there are a couple of corner markets within blocks of the hotel--great places to get water, juice, fruit, and other provisions to stock the refrigerator.

Roomy for New York

We found the accommodations roomier than the average NYC hotel. We had a complete kitchen, a large closet, and plenty of room. The hotel staff were very nice and the neighborhood was great as far as being able to walk almost anywhere we wanted to go. There were a number of great restaurants nearby.

The little store across the street has almost anything one would need and is open both early and late. The restaurant at the top of the hotel has an awesome view.
