Christmas at the Andaz
Stayed at the Andaz Wall Street for four nights over Christmas. Welcome was reasonably pleasant and check-in was fairly swift and uncomplicated. Had requested adjacent rooms but were given rooms on different floors - was too tired to question it. Were informed that some of the facilities - like the spa and gym were still unavailable due to flooding caused by Hurricane Sandy. Doors to the rooms are controlled by RFID cards - which you need to press up against the door lock above the handle - the light will turn green once the door is unlocked. Rooms were large and well appointed, including a large flat screen tv. The lights and window blind are controlled by a wall mounted control panel, allowing different lighting levels. Room was cleaned to a good standard daily - with towels / bedding replaced upon request. There are free snacks and non-alcoholic drinks in the mini-bar which are replaced daily - the alcohol is NOT free with 200ml bottles of spirits being $28 and the bottles of beer are $8. Local telephone calls are also included - helpful when arranging our return transfer to the airport. Room service was fairly efficient with a reasonable selection - although a delivery charge of $5, a service charge of 18% and New York Sales Tax have to be added on to the menu price. All in all I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would not hesitate to stay here if I was to be in New York again.

Great Hotel in fantastic location
June 2012 This is my second visit to New York, the first being in 2010 when I stayed in a hotel just off Times Square that was the same price as I paid for my 4 Nights in the Hyatt Andaz Wall Street; however there is no comparison between the two. The rooms in the Hyatt are spacious, modern in design and very clean, the bathroom had a lovely walk in shower. The addition of complementary soft drinks and snacks from the in room mini bar was also a very nice touch. All coffees, tea etc were complementary in the reception sitting area and between 5pm and 7pm each evening there was free wine as well! Did not personally use the gym but did take a look in, and was spacious and well equipped. In terms of location I much preferred Wall Street to Times Square, it is more civilised and with the hotel being in the heart of the financial district there is still more than enough to do, with lovely bars and restaurants nearby. It’s a short walk to Battery Park and 5 mins to Wall Street subway station where they are 3 subway routes running directly into Times Square in 10 mins, so you’re not too far away from Broadway , Shopping etc, if your after shops make sure you check out Century 21 which is a 10 min walk away from the hotel. Some people may not like the thought of the subway for getting around but I found it reliable, air conditioned! and very safe, even at night. Negatives, the only one I would point out is that the breakfast menu is expensive, coffee $6 and hot dishes between $16 and $26. However the food was very good. My booking with e bookers included free breakfast each day so took this pain away, try to book a similar deal. Overall a great hotel one I would defiantly go back to.

Getaway to see the State
From Seattle
We stayed on the 16th Floor. The Hotel was beautiful, room was good/large for New York standards, overall average-reason for my 3 star review- nothing blew me away as amazing. Past reviews metioned bad lighting, but lighting was very sufficient. Only complaints we had were minor, should have extra towels in the room, the amount of towels were sufficient for one person only, in my opinion. Also, the front desk staff were a bit cheesy with their dress, ipad check in, etc- allittle too over the top, again in my opinion. Word of advice to all future travelers, we had a car because we wanted to travel outside of the financial district. We were originally told the hotel had parking, I even called them to confirm. Once we arrived to the hotel, we come to find out that parking is operated by a third party, and if you are familiar with New York, anything third party is a nightmare- nothing but trouble with parking and having the attendants get our car when we needed it without a thousand excuses. Only other complaint we had was the promised "breakfast" basically it was a continential breakfast on the go. Some travel sites even charged extra to have the "breakfast" included. If your chosen room does not ccome with it already in the price, do not even bother with the upgrade, plenty of great breakfast places within a block or two, and you have great street vendors also.

Short walk from hotel
Cosi is a great place to grab a quick and filling breakfast. Dont even waste your time with any Starbucks from New York, coffee/food/service worst I have ever seen- but we have high standards being from Seattle in the coffee business- LOL

When can I come back?
I am a former New Yorker who just wanted to stay in a hotel for a change instead of crashing at a relatives. LOVED this place. New, clean, near everything, the employees went above an beyond, etc. On top of that tho, the design of the place was so modern, so sleek, so chic that I felt like I had paid 5x as much.... I honestly didn't want to leave the room. One FYI - I asked for a non smoking room and got it, but I was next to smoking room. But it was as if the person was in the room with me, it was so bad. Had I known...I would most definitely go back but I would absolutely request to be put far away from a smoking room.
