Special needs
The Amsterdam is an older hotel in the theatre district, clean, reasonable price, subject to the typical annoyances of rennovation and age. We had two rooms. The first was to be handicapped accessible. The hotel provided a wheelchair for the entire stay which was very helpful. It provided a walk in shower but not a bath bench as promised making bathing difficult. The second traditional room had a water leak, one of several in the hotel during our stay. The hotel did arrange for a new room. The phone connection in the new room never worked. Air conditioner was not necessary during our visit; not sure how functional the older window unit would be in the handicapped room. Despite the bumps, it was a good place to sleep and I would consider the Amsterdam on my next visit to New York.

it was okay
The glass counter in the bathroom had a huge crack and it was hidden by the face towel. Also, stuff was not friendly. It took forever to give us back our luggage. I would say only good thing about this hotel was location. You can walk to pretty much anywhere.

If you love the sound of NY then stay here. You'll hear it early in the morning and perhaps at night. The hotel is in Times Square, near the Port Authority and subway system. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. Fees associated with the hotel: continental breakfast: $10, internet: $10 for 24 hours, parking: $25 per day (good price), business center: N/A, fitness center: N/A…. It is a clean and friendly place to lay your head. The standard room (1 bed) is large enough to accommodate guest. The double bedroom is very tight. When leaving or entering the room, remember to pull the door shut. Now, the hotel overcharged my credit card and I am waiting to see if the charges will be dropped from my credit card.

Amsterdam Court Hotel
For a low price the hotel was just what I needed. Not to big & comfy but who cares. It was right around the corner from Times Square & down the street from Central Park.

OK for 8 hours
We only slept there for eight hours and it was a cheap room but I won't be back. The room was very dark, the television was from 1982, the air conditioning only ran cold air occasionally, the toilet ran off and on all night, the sink, shower and tub all were leaking. The bathroom window did not lock and we were on an alley on the first floor.

Great mid week getaway!
The room was very small, but more than adequate for sleeping. Other than sleeping, we weren't in the room at all. A few problems that we experienced were: 1) the closer on our door didn't work properly, and so we came back one evening and found our room door ajar. Luckily nothing was disturbed. 2) the phone in the room didn't work, so if we needed to communicate with the front desk, we had to go downstairs. 3) the room was either too hot or too cold - no thermostat or way to control temps. We found the location ideal for theatre (all the theatres we visited were within easy walking distance) and there were plenty of options for dining very close by. Overall, this hotel is good if you're looking for a bargain place to sleep.

Short walk from hotel
Food Emporium is right around the corner on 8th Avenue, and had a fabulous array of foods for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Soups, pastas, fresh baked breads, sushi, etc. - all amazing and very reasonably priced! We ate several breakfasts there, and also one evening light dinner.
