Not the greatest!

Would not recommend Wed, Jun 5, 2013
I happened to be there on two of the hottest days we've had so far this summer. The rooms had window air conditioners, that didn't work properly and were extremely loud. The room was small but clean. We had shared bathrooms and they also were really clean. Everyone had to leave their rooms to use the facilities at night and you had to slam the room doors in order for them to lock, which again made it loud. Not a place I would ever stay in again. It certainly wasn't worth the price charged per night.

Dining

9th Avenue restaurants are plentiful and offer a great price range.

SHARED BATH, but you can't beat the price

Would recommend Sat, May 25, 2013
I actually live in Manhattan, but needed a room for one weeknight for an overnight guest. There's almost nothing in town available for under $170/night (unless you get down to the really skeevy Chinatown flophouses) -- except this place. The location is truly prime, so why's it so cheap? NO FRILLS. Shared bath -- funny it didn't say ANYTHING about that in the room description when I booked! No wifi (though there's a computer with internet in the lobby), no carpet, no curtains (just blinds), not even a dresser in the room (just a tiny night table). However, everything was sparkling clean, and the shared bath turned out to be a regular lockable individual bathroom (just across the hall from our room) with pristine tub and shower. The room did include a sink/washstand and mirror, surprisingly modern/luxe looking, suggesting fairly recent renovation. We overlooked 38th St., so the street noise was constant, but that was basically to be expected. Overall, would certainly return when next needed... but bring a bathrobe.

Dining

Excellent food options a few blocks down on 32nd, a.k.a. Korea Town.

Good location, friendly staff

Would recommend Thu, May 23, 2013
My sister and I were in NYC for 1 night, 2 days, so we only really needed a hotel to sleep in for a few hours. The shared bathrooms/showers were the biggest barrier for us since we weren't used to anything like that in a hotel before, but for NYC, the hotel was a good enough price for what it offered that we didn't mind. The hotel met our needs - good location, affordable, knowledgeable staff, and able to hold our luggage before/after checkin/out while we explored the city. Overall, it was a good place for the one night we were there.

unclean, unsafe, unfriendly

Would not recommend Wed, May 22, 2013
Bathroom is down the hall. Room has no chair or desk. Window looks out on ductwork and a brick wall. No wifi, of course. You have to get buzzed into the building; no card key option. You're warned that anything of value left in your room will get stolen. For those who may want them, smoke detectors are available at the front desk. Other than the location, an absolute pit.

worth the price

Would recommend Tue, Apr 30, 2013
saved a lot of money by staying here, great location, can walk to everything and then can take the subways for everything downtown. room itself is like a hostel. shared restrooms, talking maybe 200 to 300 square foot room, a lot of noise from out side gets through the windows. You get what you paid for its a trade off for the location and price. This is somewhere we did not sleep until we really needed to sleep, come back shower change clothes maybe rest for a hour and go back too it.

Time saver

subway, its 2.75 for a single ride ticket take it all the way downtown, or where ever you want to go then take it back.

Prime Manhattan Location

Would recommend Tue, Mar 19, 2013
This was our first time to New York, so we had researched hotels and were aware that the rooms would be small. Our room at the Americana was small, had two twin beds, a tv., closet and wash sink. The shared bathroom was right outside our door and we never even encountered anyone else using the bathroom during our three night stay. My 17 year old daughter loved the corner window and really enjoyed watching the city streets from there. We brought a small floor fan to help drown out the street noise during the night - that worked really well. The location of the hotel is ideal - within walking distance to so many sights. For a low price hotel in midtown Manhattan, this is a great choice, would stay here again.

Very Satisfied!

Would recommend Mon, Mar 11, 2013
I was very satisfied with my four days at the Americana Inn. The room was small and clean, the bed comfortable and my 4th floor rear room very quiet. My room had a sink, fire escape and a sprinkler system. The staff was attentive and responsive. The bathroom across the hall was always clean and available -- plus there were three others on the floor. I informed the clerk at the reception desk that the bathtub drain was clogged, and the next time I took a shower it was clear. For the location, it was a real value. I would definitely return!

Dining

Tad's Steak House on 34th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues is a real value.

Great for the price, prime location

Would recommend Thu, Mar 7, 2013
I didn't really like the fact that the restrooms and showers were shared but considering the price and since I am only there to sleep it was easy to get over. Friendly staff and very clean considering the shared amenities. Just a few blocks from Times Square and subways and just south of Central Park and the major museums. I would go there again.

Dining

I'm a budget vacationer and I was surprised to learn there is a lot a pretty cheep good food at venders and street carts.
