Close to being great

This hotel's location, rooftop bar and in-house restaurant make it a great choice at a great value. Unfortunately, its staff is not 4-star material. From the front desk to the housekeeping, everyone in this hotel needs training or replacing. If you are not a demanding traveler and only staying for a short trip though, its a great value.

Wonderful Hotel

I got a special deal for this hotel. I think the rooms usually go for 300 or more a night but I got it for a bit over 220. The room wasn't huge but was a nice comfortable size. The bed was super comfortable and the staff was cordial and prompt. I recommend this hotel to others.

loved it!

This was the second time in a yr I stayed in this hotel and that in itself says everything. The most comfortable beds, clean big rooms, upgrades when they can. Staff can't be anymore accommodating, helpful and friendly. Great food in the hotel restaurant "RARE" Easy walking distance from grand central station, time square, ,macy's. Murray hill, nice safe quiet area.

NYC vacation trip/anniversary

First off, NYC is a great city to visit! I encountered very friendly and courteous people. The hotel is in a great location. You couldn't ask for a better spot to be situated in. Checked in on Thursday afternoon. The front desk agent seemed to sort of be rushing. She didn't mention any of the amenities the hotel offered but I'm a savvy traveler so I figured it out. I needed some ice for my wife's back and a maintenance engineer assisted me. He was great! Rare Bar and Grill served excellent food. However, breakfast took 30-40 minutes beyond the time I pre-ordered the night before. Staff said the elevator was not working. Front desk also failed to mention the name of the wirelss network. Despite all of this the hotel was very nice and I would stay there again.

A great place to stay

The hotel staff were very friendly & helpful. The hotel room was spacious & the bed was extremely comfortable. The power shower was great. The hotel was near plenty of cafes, bars, restaurants & only 20 mins away from Times Square. Grand Central station was only 5-10 minutes away.

Excellent Hotel

The rooms are modern and clean. The bed is really comfortable. And we found out that the hotel terrace had music, a seating area and a bar. We went up one night for drinks and there were a lot of people there. Great overall value. The only two things I didn't like is that the closest subway is about 4-5 blocks away (Grand Central), and also the magnifier makeup mirror in the bathroom kept falling down. I couldn't angle it to view myself properly, so I just used the regular mirror. Aside from that I have no other complaints.

Great Stay!

Our stay at the Affinia Shelburne was great. The hotel location in the Murray Hill area is very good, within short walking distance of the Empire State building, and reasonable walking distance of Times Square. It's just outside of the crazy busy area, which was just fine with us. The room was large, very clean, everything was recently updated, comfortable bed, nice washroom, flat screen tv on wall, our room was quiet. The reception and concierge service was very friendly and helpful. The price was excellent also for NYC, more priced like a 3 star vs. 4 star which I felt it definitely lived up to. We will definately return to the Affinia Shelburne for our next NYC trip.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Check out Patsy's which is a pretty short walk from the hotel for really yummy pizza (eat in), highly recommeded. We went there are first night, and oh man the pizza was sooooo good! The restaurant on the main floor of the hotel called Rare also had very good gourmet burgers, and a cool rooftop patio (cocktails only). Both were quite busy, and loud with music and lots of people so, but if so are great.
