Christmas Week at the Affinia Gardens

What a wonderful place. Fabulous large clean junior suite. The price was fabulous. The staff attentive. The location on East 64th Street between Second and Third Avenue was fine for us since we did not need to be smack in mid-town. So we took leisurely walks down Madison Avenue and Fifth Avenue to see the store decorations, the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Plaza and have lunch and dinner with friends.. I have lived and worked in New York City for 40-years. Now retired and living in Washington DC, this hotel has leaped to the top of our favorite hotel list.

Brasserie Maison at Broadway and 52nd Street. Bistro food, charming atmosphere, good value, friendly staff who don't rush you out the door. Action all around outside. Great outside dining in the warm weather.

A welcome Oasis

The location was perfect - as my trip to NYC was to bring a relative to Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital which is only 3 blocks away. The neighborhood is calm with many nice restaurants and a neat food store - Gourmet Garage a block away. Not far from the Subway. Great burgers at Jackson Hole down the street and a nice diner at 3rd & 65th St for breakfast. Several parks nearby to relax. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable and had a kitchenette. The staff was extremely helpful and made my stay a very pleasant one despite the stressful situation.

Great hotel!

The location and the staff make this hotel one of the best I have ever stayed at! The rooms are big with comfortable beds, and the hotel is very close to a 24-hour CVS, which makes it convenient to replace those last minute items!

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

The subway entrance at 63rd and Lexington (2 blocks away) will take you to Times Square within 2 stops. It's $27 for a 7 day pass, and we used it several times each day!

Very comfortable hotel - no complaints

The hotel room was very large, very comfy king sized bed. Nice sitting area. It even had a separate room with a full kitchen. Out of the way of the hustle and bustle of time square area, but a nice walk to central park and only a few blocks to the nearest subway stop.

Affinia Gardens-highly recommended

Our experience started with the nicest bellhop escorting us to our rooms, giving us maps and ideas of where to go, suggesting restuarants, and helping us plan our entire itinerary. The front desk staff was completely accommadating in our every request (which were few because we had almost everything we needed). Location was close to Central Park in a nice neighborhood. Pharmacy near by for much needed cold bottles of water and midnight snacks.

very comfortable, excellant location

I have been staying at Affinia (Lyden) Gardens for many years. The newest restoration has made the hotel even better and the new beds are some of the most comfortable I have ever found. This is a wonderful, quiet, perfectly located, small, charming hotel.

well situated

The king size bed in room T8 in the basement is rarely used so it is in great shape. All other king size beds have been too much used and make the person next to you shake every time you move... The basement rooms smells moisture or mold? The 2 hotel addresses are confusing. Both their garages have a low ceiling, inappropriate for an SUV but there is a private parking on K street for less money and more room in the height. Complimentary breakfast is good, and the proximity to restaurants with river view is great. Georgetown neighborhood has great shopping and food potential, and the Philipps museum has a beautiful Renoir worth the visit.

quiet and nice

With no hotel garage, parking is left to the garage across from the hotel or on the street which is quite challenging. The location in upper east side is great but it is a bit far from the subway station. the hotel suite was roomy and quiet. There is no breakfast room in the hotel but one block away on 2nd Avenue, there is parisian style cafe where breakfast can be taken like in paris for $4-5 per person. For dinner, we were too busy downtown to go back around the hotel. Try the best NY Deli, Carnegie Deli.
