Affinia 50 recently underwent a complete redesign of all guest rooms and suites as well as its public spaces-corridors lobby and second floor club room. The renovation lead to a hotel that has been artfully re-imagined by famed architect Nobutaka Ashihara and interior design firm Dawson Design Associates to have a uniquely residential look and feel. The newly redesigned Affinia 50 is to be completed in October 2013. Affinia 50 hotel has 251 beautifully redesigned rooms including 100 with kitchens and 19 with terraces. All with eclectic furnishings that look hand-selected curated details at every corner and well-considered design down to the last elegant component. The new look is open and welcoming less *designed*. It was created for todays lifestyle to feel like a friends living room in their chic city-smart home with a collection of art and little treasures that were discovered throughout Manhattan. New to the lobby is a grab-and-go retail space featuring food beverages sundries and fun curated merchandise for spur-of-the-moment splurges. The redesign connects the lobby and the Club Room via a sweeping stainless steel-and-stone staircase to an updated oasis. The design of the second floor Club Room inspires guests to get out of their rooms with an inviting eclectic mix of modern furniture and stylish accent pieces where they can relax work and take advantage of complimentary Wi-Fi. Each evening the hotel hosts a complimentary wine hour held in the Club Room and breakfast is served here daily. Set in the dynamic center of Midtown Manhattan- Affinia 50 provides a modern artfully designed setting with a residential feel. Close proximity to Rockefeller Center-Fifth Avenue shopping and corporate headquarters makes Affinia 50 an appealing choice for a wide range of business travelers couples and international guests. Affinia 50 is a member of Stash Rewards program.

Great place, great location!

We enjoyed our stay. The room was great, the staff was stellar, and the location was great - pretty close to most everything a new visitor to NYC would want to see. This was actually my first trip to NYC. I would give the hotel a 5 star rating, but I have two things I was disappointed about: 1) WiFi - since I didn't book my trip with the hotel directly we did not receive free in-room WiFi, rather we had to either pay a daily rate or go down to the lounge on the 2nd floor to use the free WiFi there. i over heard another guest checking in and she had free WiFi. When I asked why I did not have complimentary WiFi I was told it was because I did not book directly with the hotel; and, 2) the 2nd floor lounge has free coffee, but the breakfast bar, which consisted of not much more than a continental breakfast, was $16.95 per person per day. In my opinion that is an outrageous price for the paltry offerings, so we opted to eat elsewhere. My opinion about these two issues is that the hotel is penny pinching and that what little money they would have gotten is certainly not worth the negative impressions it left. I've had a better and free continental breakfast at motels a tenth of the price of the daily rate of this hotel. Finally, I shudder to think how much food they must throw out from this expensive breakfast bar. I told them the very same thing in the review they asked me to complete. Otherwise, our experience was very good.

A god value and good location

Very good location, enjoyed the 5PM wine hour on the second floor lounge, Clean hotel. Only bad mark were construction workers outside our window at 9AM. We would stay there again., and we come fairly frequently.

Very good value

Service and staff are exceptionally friendly and efficient. Only negatives are street noise (earplugs supplied for sleep), and expensive room wi-fi.

Great Midtown Hotel

Great Mid-town Hotel, excellent location, good value for money, tastefully refurbished with very accommodating staff. Was given an upgrade on arrival which was great as I was there the week for business. Unfortunately as a lot of mid town is ensconced in scaffolding- Affina 50 included at time of writing - I had a great view of steel.Spoke to reception who more than happily sorted out the problem, gave me an excellent room and moved all of my stuff whilst I was out. They have nice touches like the wine hour and the hotel is geared towards both business and family guests. Its my 3rd time there - would certainly recommend.

less than a block up on 50th & Lexington, The National Restaurant - actually part of the Benjamin Hotel, very pleasant, good service, perfect for relaxed dining or just a drink at the bar - best to book on busy nights of the week if you have a preferred time. Great for business travelers, parties or couples.

Leisurely stay in midtown

Overall I enjoyed my stay at the Affinia 50. It is a fairly average hotel and I mostly chose this place because it had a kitchenette which was important since I was going to be there a few days. The room was very spacious and the kitchenette did the job, but it definitely left something to be desired. A dishwasher would have been a nice addition, and I would have preferred a microwave with a traditional swing open style door rather than a pull out oven style door. Staff was friendly and kind for the most part, however there was a manager I encountered there who was quite rude and abrasive and was not the least bit helpful when I was attempting to check out and needed some assistance.

Great stay for the holidays!

Love the staff here. Always accommodating and friendly! Management is very attentive. Special Cheers to Lisette who helped us at our check in. What a gem! She made sure we had rooms close to each other since we were traveling with children and that we got the appropriate rooms. We loved our stay and would come back again. the bagel shop across the street is amazing but the lines are huge.........try going in off hours, worth the visit!

Newsies musical on broadway. We loved it! Go see the Saks fifth avenue store at night. The light show is amazing during the holiday season. Eat at Bar Americian, Bobby Flay's restaurant.
