Midtown East Hideaway
Literally a hideaway: narrow building, narrow lobby, narrow hallways, and my second-floor room had windows that overlooked some kind of service rooftop (airvents, antennae, etc.), which left me feeling like I was tucked away into some secret corner of Midtown Manhattan, which was fine by me. if the room was a little more spacious and if the staff was a lot more friendly, this would have felt like a great getaway, instead I felt like I was squirreled away into an otherwise serviceable, but unremarkable, little room.

It was fine until I got knocks by the Security and Fire Fighters at 3 am in the morning. There was some incident and wanted to know I was using the toaster or cooking in the kitchen. They need to update electrical systems.

Great stay! Will stay again!
I stayed on business and enjoyed this hotel quite a bit. Nice fitness room, nice common area on 2nd floor, friendly/helpful desk staff and concierge and huge room for the price. My only complaint, is the breakfast is pretty pricey for what it is....but that's NY for you.

Outstanding Value in a Can't-Be-Beat location
I stayed here with my parents recently for three nights and we were so impressed with this hotel in every way. The rooms were spacious and clean, and they upgraded us to a suite at no extra charge. The staff was so friendly and bent over backwards to make us feel like every time we walked through that door we were coming home. The one housekeeping request we had for an extra blanket was literally responded to in minutes. I slept on the sofabed in the living room of the one bedroom suite and have to say it is the only time I can honestly say it was an incredibly comfortable night's sleep on a sofabed. The location of the hotel is amazing, and everything you need is in a one to two block radius, including public transportation. Although we did not make use of it, the full kitchenette was a great touch to help cut down on the costs of eating out in the city. We will return here without hesitation.

The Mexican restaurant across the street has fantastic food and seems to have quite the evening scene if you want to feel more of a pulse.

The room was like a large closet. You could hardly move in the small bathroom, it had a shower that didn't work well, brown water came out of the sink when it was first turned on and there was a dead bug on the floor. The location was good, the community room was nice although they wanted to charge $18 dollars for a cold continental breakfast that most hotels provide for free.

Loved the Location
We were only there one night, bathroom was small but nice. The handle on the closet door was about to fall off, but once I got passed that the room was spacious by NYC standards and the staff was helpful. Their lunch suggestion, the National, was great.
