Perfect stay

On arrival, the hotel staff were very pleasant and welcoming. Everything was explained clearly and the room was easy to find. The decor of the lounge area and bedroom were beautiful - it felt warming and cosy yet stylish. I enjoyed my 30th birthday there and the concierge Kevin was extremely helpful, friendly and is highly knowledgable! The location was ideal, and only a few minutes walk away from Grand Central and there were plenty of places around to go and eat. It would have been nice if the hotel had a restaurant, I think it would be a nice addition. All in all it was a great experience and would certainly stay there again.

Time-saving tip: Not Applicable

I would recommend the hop on hop off bus tours - it is the best way to see everything and find your bearings especially if you are only visiting for a short period of time.

Boutique Hotel bathrooms questionable

Everyone at the hotel was very nice. From the door men, to concierge, to reservations. Loved the wine happy hour from 5-6. The only thing I didnt care for was the bathroom looked a little dated with the peeling wall paper(I saw a few placed in the hall that were peeling too). The water pressure was also terrible, not sure if that is a nyc thing or just this hotel. But I would definately stay here again! Very cozy...

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

Kitona jazz club(loved their sausage pasta) is in walking distance. Jazz from 8-11pm. Mulligan's Pub(great place for sports and relatively inexpensive drinks). Grand Central Station, Starbucks is right down the street in walking distance.

70 Park Hotel

Kimpton hotels are truly unique experiences. Just be sure you recheck prices as it gets closer to your stay. Unfortunately I paid over $100.00 more to XXXXX for the room for one night than the list price directly through the Hotel. Unfortunately i discovered this too late to get a refund and book directly with the hotel.

Perfect for me

Excellent. Friendly staff. Great location. A good breakfast would have been the cherry on the top. Will come again, especially if we get a good rate.!!

Good Experience

The staff welcomed me when I arrived. They served wine from 5-6pm in the lobby so after a long work day I welcomed that. The room was spacious for a New York hotel. All in all a good choice.

Great value, large room size for Midtown

I came here for only an overnight stay, but had a pleasant experience. Great location on Park Avenue, and close to where I wanted to be. The room size was fairly large for the area, although the bathroom was itty bitty. Staff was very friendly and helpful, and I would definitely consider staying here again if I need to travel to the area.

70 Park Ave

Overall the hotel was great. We had some issues with our room when we first arrived in that we had requested a room with 2 double beds which they were out of. They said that they would give us a king and a cot. The first room was too small for the "cot", so they moved us to a big king. The cot was a blow up bed which wouldn't work so finally we got moved to a larger room with a pull out sofa. Alls well that ends well.

You win some, you lose some.

My wife and I travel to NYC twice a year, and usually stay in a Murray Hill location hotel. This was our first stay at 70 Park Ave. It will probably be our last, unless they address some issues. First, the good stuff. Exceptional location with quick access to Grand Central Station. Walk to dozens of sites in NYC. Nice staff. Good but small fitness center. Always had water (and sometimes fruit) in lobby. Free newspapers. Now the bad stuff. Air conditioner never really cooled down the room (thought it was quite hot in NYC). Horrible WIFI, even if you pay for it (this should be a deal breaker for a business person). Toilet not really usable as mounted. Need to sit side-saddle. At this price, a light breakfast should be included. Coffee shop off of lobby is horrible. No options for meals on the premises. Small lobby with uncomfortable seating. Rooms look very dated. Halls and elevators had a dirty/dingy feel. Shower drain was very slow. Bed way too soft. The location trumps a lot of this, if you are just looking for a good central New York setting.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Go to Top of the Rock instead of Empire State building. Cheaper, shorter lines, better views, nicer setting.

Week in NYC in June 2014

We stayed at this hotel for two nights. The staff is really friendly, the room is pretty but a bit small. The bathroom was very small. I would probably try another hotel of the same brand in NY, next time, perhaps the one in H.kitchen. Anyways, overall a good 4 star experience.
