Great manhattan getaway

Want to avoid Manhattan's hustle and bustle, and get a great room rate? Consider the Ravel Hotel. Accessible by the 7 and E trains, with a convenient free hourly shuttle too. Great "by the glass" wine bar in the lobby!

Great In Many Respects, Lacking In Others

Paid extra for a penthouse king room. Definitely worth the extra money to get that view from the top floor, which was spectacular from the room's private balcony (Two giant smokestacks are in the view, but not enough to ruin the manhattan skyline). NO FREE WIFI....pretty much unacceptable at this point. Unusual, but interesting room layout with a nice, deep tub and a super comfortable bed. Shower head was cheap, just sort of spraying drops of water all over the stall. The stall itself needed a re-caulking. There were no noise issues, though there are warnings posted indicating that the top floor rooms might get noisy due to the rooftop bar/restaurant. Didn't appear to be an issue on weeknights. As for service, I called guest services asking if they had a wine bottle opener, and was told someone would bring one up to my room. 20 min later, after no one had arrived, I went down to guest services and asked for the bottle opener, only to be told they didn't have one, and I'd have to bring the bottle up to the rooftop bar to be opened.... The hotel's immediate surroundings were quite unsightly, but with subways to Manhattan within walking distance (hourly shuttle is offered, though I didn't take it), you won't likely be spending much time in the neighborhood anyway. In summation, poor service and lack of free wifi were big detractors. The room was great, except for the shower, and the view is spectacular.

Awesome Hotel

I had the penthouse room on the 5th floor. didn't have any noise issues. (i don't think the club was open during my stay.) the breakfast was okay but does have an amazing view which was located on the roof top. The dinner menu isn't big but the food is delicious! The room was very clean. the bathrooms are spa like which was nice. the mini bar is a bit expensive but hey, its Vodka.. and i needed some! They do have shuttle buses that can pick up/drop off every hour. there is a $5 fee if its not on the hour. train station isn't that far. maybe a 10min. walk. (the one i went to was in front of a fried chicken restaurant) The one thing i loved was the bed. extremely comfy!! I really wanted to see the how the roof top changed into club. maybe on my next stay. i will most definitely be coming back!

Great Price, Great Location, Great Hotel

The hotel itself is beautiful and very modern, when we walked in we were greeted with a friendly face and the check in process was quick and easy! Our room had a balcony with a view of the city and was very hip with a seperate bathtub and shower. The beds were super comfortable and the room spotless. The best part was the Penthouse bar/club on the roof top that was amazing! Even though we did venture into the city, we did not have to because we had a great bar on the top floor of our hotel (that was jam packed!). The only part I did not like was the fact that even though I pre-paid for the hotel I still had to give them $150 for incidentals because we had a mini-bar....that should be an option for guests...would you like a room with a mini-bar and snacks or not? Because when you come home from the city at 7:00am drunk as a skunk you probably don't realize the peanuts your eating are $17!!
