The hotel is close to the subway which is nice. It's close to all NY attractions. Downside was that our room had a peculiar smell, but it was clean.

Okay
The location of the hotel is close (1-2 blocks) to the subway, if you don't mind traveling that way. Yellow cabs are a lot cheaper than the local cabs for going into the city. Our room was accessible yet was still small. But that is normal in the NYC area. We were in town to visit family in Astoria, so it wasn't too far from them. We also go into the city quite a bit to see sights. Going to Manhattan takes a while on the subway with lots of walking, and stairs to climb. We liked staying in the city better. It costs a little more but it is less tiring if you want to see the sights. The continental breakfast wasn't much. Not real juice (maybe Sunny D), coffee, milk, bagels, cereal and very stale pastries. We only ate there one morning when we were short on time. The other two mornings we ate at the Greek diner by the subway entrance. They have a variety of breakfasts for a reasonable price. Our room was quiet, which was good for sleeping at night. The room was fairly clean, though there was a little mildew was in the shower caulk. Basically this hotel is only the bare essentials, and the staff is not friendly at all. If you want a good deal and don't expect much besides a comfortable bed and a clean room, this might be your deal.

There aren't restaurants in the hotel area. It's kind of an industrial area. The Ditmar Street area in Astoria has a nice variety of restaurants, shops drugstores and grocery stores. You can take the subway there from the hotel, it's the last stop when going towards Astoria. Or you can take a 10 minute cab ride. We ate at the Pizza Parlor, a Greek and Seafood restaurant and enjoyed them all.

Great for the money
The room was very spacious and was very comfortable for me and my friends to stay at. Everyone had space for themselves. We just hung around the hotel for the day and it was just a great place to do with everything that you need in a room.

Nice place to stay, 5 minutes from NYC.
Nice location at Queens, 1 minute walking to '39th Ave Station' lines (N And W) and 5 minutes to 'Queensboro Plaza Station' (lines 7). Easy place, fast check in, easy check out. Good for travelers who need a good room to sleep and enjoy all day walking in Manhattan.

It was average
I was looking for a hotel that was not expensive yet clean, and 15 to 20 minutes from Manhattan. Quality Inn was the right one. However, as my friend and I got off the subway, we were kind of concerned about the location... it was dirty, I would not advise anybody to walk there alone at night. There was paper, plastic bottles, broken TVs and microwave in the streets, on the pavement... we were worried about the hotel itself... was it going to be clean ?... But when we stepped in, the contrast between what we saw in the street and the lobby was clear, and the rooms were nice and very clean, with flat screen TVs. The location definitely does not do justice to the hotel. My friend and I loved the fact that the hotel was located 10 to 15 minutes from Time Square, because that was where we were going to spend most of our stay in New York. We had a great time, the only problem was the hotel environment....

Close to Manhattan
A friend and I chose this hotel because of the location to the city, and it proved to be all we needed. It's just over the bridge, and in a reasonably deserted area of town-- which was fine. We didn't mind walking back to the hotel at night, and were even able to check in early and drop off our luggage before branching out to Central Park. The hotel itself was clean, and have an OK continental breakfast. Our room didn't look quite like the pictures, but was still nice.

Only one in the area
Hotels are hard to find in Astoria/Long Island City. This one is as near as I can get to my daughters' apartments near 31st Street. The room is small and there is not much space at all to hang clothes. The over-all cleanliness of this hotel is excellent, and the staff is great...serious and know the business. The housekeepers are friendly and very efficient. Each time I needed a car (no taxis on call), the front desk got me one in less then 5 minutes.

Time-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
The N train (subway) is available down one block from the hotel...a short walk. This gets you into Manhattan in a hurry, if you do not want to take a taxi or car.
