It was "So, So"
I live in CT and I booked my reservation for a one-night stay because I was going to spend a couple days in NYC. When I looked at the ammenities it included "free parking" which was one the reasons why I made the reservation at this hotel. However when I got to the hotel the parking garage was closed because it was full and the receptionist said that parking in the street was not "as" safe. I was advised to park my car on the other side of the hotel (21st st) where the Best Western hotel is, (the parking garage is shared by both hotels) but I did not know the area well so I did not feel comfortable leaving my car on a street that I was not closed to. I ended up checking out at 7pm on the same day due to the parking situation. Hotel is closed to the subway station (F). Didn't take the subway as I planned to but it was good to have close by. NYC is literally like 10min away from the hotel - in car. There is a White Castle, Subway, supermarket, Dunkin Donuts, McDonald's, at about 3 min -car distance. The bed's comforter was all stained, there were hairs on the bathroom door. Some of the walls were also stained and the room was a little smelly (humid). I guess it was ok for the length of time I was going to stay and the money I paid. I brought my own pillows & bed sheets. The hotel staff was awesome... Very helpful and friendly. There was an indian girl when I checked it that was very sweet.

Short walk from hotel
Dunkin Donuts, Subway, Supermarket, White Castle, McDonalds'. There was a WalMart at about 5 miles. I went to Jersey City and the Holland Tunnel back to Long Island City was $12. Most tolls are $6.50 so be ready!

its an okay average hotel
Location is more in the industrial side. I stayed for 4 nights for the NYC Marathon. The hotel is only 2 blocks from the F train which will take you to Manhattan in 10 minutes. I walked around the area at night and early morning and never felt like I was in danger. The staff were very friendly and answered all questions about the area that I had. The hallways weren't the prettiest, but the room was an average size hotel room and about twice the size of a cheap room in Manhattan. I used wi-fi and never had a problem with it. I would stay again as it is cheaper than Manhattan and only a few minutes away using the F train.

Short walk from hotel
F train is a couple blocks away and you can be in Manhattan with in minutes. If there are service issues at the station going to or coming from Manhattan, the N and Q trains are only about two blocks down and about 4 blocks to the left.

Just OK
I stayed 3 nights at this hotel. It is located in a not-so-well-doing area. If public transportation is what you have in mind, I do not suggest you stay out too late at night unless you travel in group. NY city is about 20mins by F-line subway. This hotel delivers average overall value. Staff are friendly.

so so hotel.
The hotel was so so. Carpets were dirty and the entrance was very disorganized and messy. This gives terrible impression. Room was so so. Bed cover had some stains, that made me think. Otherwise bed was comfortable, wifi worked well and breakfast was acceptable. Staff was friendly.

The hotel is in the middle of an industrial area. You have to take a train to manhatan to find somewhere fun to eat and do. Nothing around the hotel that I could find.

Decent hotel, convenient to public transportation
Price and convenience to the subway were the two most valuable features of the hotel to us. The room was comfortable, including bed and pillows (and nice shower), and well kept. The selection of breakfast food was good, and, though there were times when the breakfast room was crowded, in our week-long stay, only one time did we not find a table immediately. The halls showed use; the lobby was OK though not particularly attractive. The staff were helpful to us in receiving late-arriving luggage, though we did not need the concierge's services. Though the area is not terribly attractive and there's a public housing complex on the way to the subway, the neighborhood is quiet, and we felt safe using the subway even very late at night and when we walked a little distance from the next subway stop late one night.

The (New York) City Store at City Hall in Lower Manhattan (to the left of the arched walkway in the middle of the building) has very good and reasonably priced souvenirs of the city that aren't found elsewhere--bags, toys, books, cups, water bottles, subway signs, cute kitchen apparel with sanitation grades, etc.

Better than I expected
The hotel is in an idustrial neighborhood; a bunch of old factories, landromats, second hand stores, warehouses, mechanic shops etc. The F train is 2 blocks away and the 59th Street Bridge is 5 blocks away, so location was great. The neighborhood around the hotel was a little sketchy looking, but there were enough tourists to keep things comfortable. The staff were very responsive and the rooms were kept very tidy. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone. Side note, plan out your routes to and from the airports in advance.
